Unassuming entrance. Small place with less than ten tables. The proprietor kindly took the time to explain each of the (handwritten in Italian) menu items. Amazing food and very reasonable prices. Had a meat and cheese plate and Tagliatella pasta dish with ground roast beef and pork which was split into two. Outstanding quality. No cover charge. Would come again for sure

Testone

On Saturday evenings, dozens of people wait for a place. That's how simple and good it is. Hearty food served with, or stuffed into, "torta al testo" a sort of thick focaccia. Umbria is a landlocked region of Italy, so forget about fish: it's various pleasant kinds of vegetables, a dozen cuts of pork and cured meats - some don't even have an Italian translation! - plus hamburgers, salads. Amazing value for money. You are in the heart of the busy Navigli happy-hour-to-late-night-out area, and you get a good serving and a drink for 5-6 Euros, a full meal with some side dishesfor a dozen. Service and settings are very informal but very nice. Most tables are up two very steep and narrow flights of stairs - senior citizens and reduced mobility friends will struggle even to move around on the ground floor. It's actually one of the first forays outside Umbria of a locally popular franchise.
