I previously reviewed this Salumeria back in June 2015 when it was rated as the No: 1 restaurant in Siena and could not understand how it achieved that rating given that it was really just a salumeria and small delicatessen that had a very small internal seating area although there were also a few tables outside. Some four years later it is still no: 1 and obviously has a very loyal following on TripAdvisor. Not much has changed since our first visit. The small building is still divided into two areas, the shop with its meat, cheese, salad and fresh food counter on one side and a selection of other foodstuffs and fresh fruit on the shelves opposite. The other area has a small internal dining room and kitchen with a small number of tables. Since the date of my first review we have spoken to the owners of the apartment where we stay in Siena and have found out that this is their "go to" place whenever they are seeking to buy cold meats for a special family occasion. We have also had the opportunity to sample more of this salumeria's products that are largely made in-house. On this most recent stay in Siena we visited this shop on five occasions to buy various cold meats and pre-made salad items.Without a doubt the in-house made prosciuttos, salamis and, especially the porchetta, are some of the best we have tasted. Some of the salads and quality of the vegetables was also very good. There is also a good range of cheeses to choose from.During our visits we have found the owner to be very hospitable and, rightly, very proud of what he produces and very keen for people to sample his products. His coffee is also very good.

We happened upon this place late one rainy lunchtime wandering around Murlo. We were pretty hungry and really glad we found it. Not only was he food delicious, but itâs a quirky place with a warm welcome. We both enjoyed pasta dishes. Spaghetti with a sage pesto and tagliatelle with the local boar ragu. All washed down with a carafe of the house red. Nom, nom.Great location with views over the countryside and a lovely balcony that would have been nice it it wasnât for the rain. Highly recommended.

Our first night in Tuscany and we had earmarked this restaurant based on previous T/A posts and was absolutely spot on. Everything was perfect. Simple but sublime pasta, great wine recommendation, beautiful garden setting, friendly waitstaff. Could not fault this restaurant. If you are driving, there is no parking next to the restaurant - you need to park down the hill in the 'public' carpark about 200m and then walk back up.

The food and drinks at La Capannina are reasonable and pretty good. We had a nice starter with noodles which we shared, pizza for main course and tiramisu and semifredo for dessert together with a light house wine and water. All was good. The service is very friendly and attentive.

Don't expect pizza or pasta here (they don't serve them!) but rather some great cheese selections and cured meats. The portions are large and the prices incredibly reasonable - our four dishes, half liter of wine and sparkling water was just 36E for lunch (fed three people). The crostini sampler (four varieties) was excellent with the truffle spread being the best one as well as the prosciutto and caprese dish (very tasty buffala cheese! The woman working behind the counter speaks some English so it is relatively easy to get service. Do take time to take the steps down to the historic cellar - it dates from the 7th century.

In the extensive and impressive dining room, housed in the old stables of the farm and now furnished with elegant simplicity, it is always possible to enjoy the typical Tuscan home cooking. Open every day for the dinner.
Excellent food quality, friendliness, humanity, and a lot of respect for nature. I love it Highly recommended.Your comments and compliments are much appreciated, especially your appreciation of the respect for nature which we strive to promote. Thank you so much!

Chiuso per ferie dal 17.11.2016 al 10.12.2016
My wife and our three daughters have just had a fantastic dinner at Il Locale Di Guido. My wife and I shared a 1kg Fiorentina Steak, 2 daughters had Filet Steak and the little one had local pasta. We had a small bottle of wine and desserts. Everything was excellent. The service was great too. The entrance to the restaurant is a little peculiar but the dining area itself is lovely. We highly recommend.

Restaurant where you can taste dishes of Tuscan cuisine and savor local wines. We have a wonderful veranda summer evenings and we also do fish dishes. Suitable for ceremonies or for quiet evenings with family or as a couple.
The restaurant is in the town of Monteroni d'arbia which is a short drive from our cottage. We had the steak with truffles which was excellent. The appetizer of quail eggs & truffle was another scorer. Their mains of pasta with wild boar ragu was good too. Overall, the food is highly commendable. We even returned a second time!

This is the bar/pizzeria/osteria on the main street in the village of Ville di Corsano.
We have been in Tuscany for a week and have had great meals and great wines all over the region. We keep coming back to our favourite little ristorante in the small Ville Di Corsano, for the food, the wine and the great staff! It opens at 7:30pm so we are typically the first ones, after our Aperol Spritz is enjoyed on the front 2 tables, by the roadside where the locals gather to talk about their days across the street. The food is made with such care and every morsel is delicious. We have not made one bad choice and the specials always feature locally grown and sourced foods, meats and vegetables. Very reasonably priced and the staff are great!Take out pizzas are tremendous and hit the spot for 5 euros! This is a must eat here if in the area!
The quality of the food in Siena has been fantastic, but the standout restaurant for our visit was Trattoria La Porticina. An amazing indoor restaurant with brick vaulted ceilings, just off the side of Piazza II Campo. Their speciality is Game. We loved the home made pasta with duck sauce, the pheasant pie, which were both delicious and the venison carpaccio and Angus beef, both smoked with Cherrywood were equally delicious. This restaurant will be our first choice for our return trip to Siena. Thank you for a great evening.
