Find out what Central European restaurants to try in Volgograd. Known as Stalingrad during much of the Soviet era, Volgograd is now an important industrial city of just over a million people. During World War II, the hill of Mamayev Kurgan was one of the bloodiest locales of the Battle of Stalingrad (the deadliest battle in history, claiming a million and a half lives), and is now the site of a memorial complex. The Panorama Museum, named for the massive Battle of Stalingrad panoramic painting it houses, is another of the city’s most popular attractions.

Were been here several times.I feel contradictory feelings to this restaurant. On the one hand, there is really nice atmosphere, delicious and exotic food, such as the sea urchin. But on the other hand, you can get there at the wrong time, when the dishes are so-so and so crowded that you have to wait for service for a long time. Our first visit, in 2014, was exellent - attentive staff, great food :) Our last visit, nov.2015, really disappointed me. Absolutely attentive waiter,I spent a half hourafter ordering, to hear that fish is not available today. Ok. After ordering another dish, got it absolutly not salted :(

I was staying at this hotel so I ended up eating here. The food was good and service was fast. You find vegetarian options but not really vegan ones, just maybe the vegetable rice I had which didn't blow me away but was good (I can't guarantee it was vegan so you should ask specifically). The soup I had was very nice too. I liked the way the restaurant looked and they had some rooms that were really beautiful. I do recommend that the hotel provides vegan meals, it would be a big plus to it since there is only one vegan restaurant in town and also, some soy milk at breakfast would be very welcome. Overall good place, good food, good experience. Only one waiter could speak some English, but the others where helpful even if they weren't comfortable with it so you will be alright.

While in Volgograd, after a long day of touring around, I was just about to meet with someone when I got the message cancelling everything. In cold December, cappuccino is a well-placed, cozy and refined coffee place. The drink to its name is quite well but black tea is amazing. Prices are accordingly to the rest of the city.

Cafe NOSOROG- true oasis of harmony and tranquility in the center of Volgograd, where every corner is shrouded in a warm hearth. Nosorog - cafe as a way of life, there are going to friends and friends of friends.
We went there twice and both times the cuisine was delicious. The place seems popular - all the tables were booket so if you are planning to go there at weekend it might be better to book a table. They spoke English (bonus in Volgograd), had live music (that we wanted to avoid :-) as we wanted to chat but there are 2 rooms so it is not a big problem) and food was very good!Dear Magdalena,Thank you so much for your review! We are so happy to read it. If you decide to visit Volgograd again we are always wait you.Sincerely, team of cafe "Nosorog".

Marusya is a Russian restaurant not that much far away from the river of Volga, just above a little hill from where - under the comfort of a patio (during the summer) - you can enjoy both the wind and the see followed by the good food served in an authentic European style.I did enjoy every single moment in my staying. Very recommended.Particularly notable the kitchen with a front view in the dinner area, where you can see your pilmeni being prepared.

I went to this restaurant twice and was impressed with the food on both occasions. There is a good variety of things to choose, and everything is tasty and well-presented. Many of the dishes are made with ingredients coming from their own farm. Try the rabbit pelmeni - among the best I've had. Selecting the dinks is more difficult - the only thing you can get by the glass is OK'ish house wine, and there are only a couple of types of beer on offer. This is definitely a food place, not a drinks place. The room is very good and well-designed. The only thing is, the restaurant is not in the city centre, but across the ravine from the Centre district (10 min by metro/tram). However, if you are staying in one of many hotels in the area, this is certainly a place to keep in mind. ...as I said, I came twice.

This is a very easy going restaurant where you can pick and choose from all the Russian favorites, starters, main plates and desserts. It's cheerful and friendly too and even has a baby seat. The quality of the food is great too, so all in all my favorite place in town for an uncomplicated lunch, and quick if it has to be.Thnx! Come again!
