This restaurant has been highly rated by many experienced reviewers and we were eager to check it out. We too are foodies and you may have seen my reviews of restaurants from many countries over the world. This one provided a Lovely setting, superb service, but was without a doubt overly pretentious. The setting down of a once used fork or empty plate resulted in the arrival of two wait persons, who swiftly carried away the evidence. Similarly, all new plates seemed to require two people for delivery. The amuse-bouche, the cleansing courses, the beautiful artistry of each plate , and superb flavors were wonderful. However the waits between courses became aggravatingly slow and the $6.50 charge for what appeared to be tap water in a clear bottle seemed a little over the top. Serving sizes were much less than the photos show--my deer calf loin consisted of two 50 cent size pieces of meat atop a 1/4" inch deep smear of mashed potatoes--ahhh, but with the most delicious cherry sauce imaginable; my husband's order of steak was again wonderful, but miniscule. Artistry seems most important-. One of the menu items included a tiny 1" clay flower pot, filled with something like strawberry sorbet, and had a tiny little white flower planted in it. Many of the plates had a design of spread food decorated with created red or green berries or flowers which had been made of crushed red fruit or green peas or some other appropriately colored item. We had opted for the five-course fixed price menu, but the menu itself was confusing with each item individually priced as well as totaled. My lone gin and tonic was priced at $14 for the gin,$3.70 for the tonic water, The food itself could not have been better. At the end of two hours, tired and maybe a bit jet-lagged, we called a halt to it, opted out of the desert (which I will forever regret), paid our $226.70 Euro bill and escaped. If you are very patient and want to enjoy a lot of theater with your food, this might be the place--overall, it seemed to me like a food farce, an unnecessary exaggeration of dining and maybe a bit like a Barbie Doll Tea party.

The location of this restaurant is already exceptional : try the terrace with the lake view, under the old trees. The spot is just perfect, be it for lunch or for dinner. The service is fine. As for the food, it's one of my favorite places in the world (of those I have tried) for fish (apparently they also have quiet a reputation for snails, but I'd rather eat those in France as today the restaurant imports them anyway from France). Their fish (from the lake) is just perfect (so tasteful that it doesn't need any special sauces). If you like fish, try the Reinanke (I would give my soul for this one), but I also liked the starter (carpaccio of Saibling, which is another fish from the lake). As for the dessert, this is the place to try the typical regional dessert called "Salzburger Nockln" (I have tried it in a certain number of restaurants in and around Salzburg, but this one was the best as far as I am concerned). They also have some nice austrian wines to go with the food. A place where I have been now for a certain number of times but where I always love to go back. And don't forget to bring your swimsuit and to go for a swim in the lake before having your meal ;-)

We ate at the Gasthaus Fischtagging based on Tripadvisor reviews. While generally satisfied, we found the reviews a bit overly generous based on our own experience. However, we also recommend it.The restaurant is situated on the outskirts of the town, amidst neighboring farms. It is a charming bucolic setting. The Gasthaus is in an attractive building and has a pleasant garden. The weather was chilly, but we ate outside anyway. Both the terrace and the restaurant were crowded that Friday night. We shared a table with an interesting couple who were also visiting the area and had a very pleasant and interesting conversation with them.I ordered the Raznjici, which I found a bit bland for this dish. I accompanied it with a stein of the keller bier, which was pretty typical for that style. My wife had the Tafelspitz, which she described as above average. Her Marillenknödel was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Portion sizes for our dishes were normal, but at other tables we saw a similarity between body sizes and portion sizes.I do not know if this was a larger crowd than a normal Friday night, but something made the service rather slow and inattentive. We repeatedly had to call the waitress and ask for items that should have been on the table or were forgotten. It was a satisfying meal, if not memorable. Our two meals came to 36,50â¬, about average for the Salzburg area.

This restaurant / guest house is actually located in Michaelbeuern, which is actually 30km outside of Salzburg!! However Tripadvisor will let me update everything but the city the restaurant is located in! I'll submit the first review of this restaurant and hopefully I'll get someone from Tripadvisor to change the location... when I added the restaurant I even used the 'drop pin' function to locate the restaurant precisely but despite that TA has put the restaurant in Salzburg! We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon while on a cycling holiday around Austria. The food was delicious, fresh, good proportions, service was efficient. My partner had the pork medallions with pepper-cream sauce served with potato wedges and "speck bohnen", green beans with bacon. I had the grilled trout (Forellenfilets) which was moist and soft. This was served on pumpkin-cream sauce and potato wedges. Very fresh and tasty, well seasoned. We had a glass each of Augustiner beer and Franziskaner wheat beer. The restaurant was quiet with only a handful of tables taken. Total price â¬40 which was good value in my opinion.

Owned by the young couple Susi and Emanuel Weyringer, this restaurant is top of the range. Emanuel creates excellent high-class food in a very innovative way which is amazing. Excellent wine-list.For me Weyringer is one of the best restaurants in Austria. Service headed by Susi is very friendly and professional. Sitting outside on the wonderful terrace overlooking the lake is such a treat. We will always come back. Reservation is highly recommended.Dear CarlaColumna!Thank you very much for such amazing writing. Really top spot. Good beer and even better food. It is in effect the outlet for the Brewery across the road. The latter has a highly regarded Trümer Pils.Good choice of food and plenty of healthy options a rarity in my experience in German speaking countries!I had the herb soup and the grilled chicken salad. Really excellent. We sat outside in the lovely beer garden and if you have kids there is a playground beside the beer garden and also an indoor play room. Huge function room downstairs too.A really great spotHighly recommended

This comfortable castle hotel grew out of an original âimperial tavernâ on the lake. The cuisine grew out of regional products and organic produce.
I stayed in September 2011 , the weather was very nice and while I worked in a nearby city she enjoyd the lake and walked around. The breakfast is excellent

Enjoy life, where it is most beautiful. The special place for your wonderful breakfast, wedding or celebration. Enjoy the beautiful views and indulge yourself.
Our second time here after a year, nothing have changed. I don't doubt the kitchen is good or the meal is great, average or nice, but service is slow, too crowded, we ordered for a Cappuccino and the had none, no Apfelstrudel, nothing. I don't know what they had because we left.

Visit our traditional Austrian restaurant in the vicinity of the beautiful Mattsee (norhtern Salzburg). We offer for you a wonderful sunny terrasse to sit in the fresh air! You may also take a seat inside our original general room. Mr. And Mrs. Durager wi
This was such a nice little find on our trip. A family run, pet friendly restaurant with two outdoor patios. Their special dish is Austrian dumplings from the owners' secret recipe. Our server was the owners' son, very friendly and helpful, advised us on what to order, and chatted with us. When we got stuck in a sudden storm, we were allowed to come inside and wait out the rain, they happily brought an extra big bowl of water to our table for our elderly dog, who was resting under our table. This is a cash only establishment, and all of the prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this lovely little restaurant, esp if you enjoy eating where the locals eat. Enjoy!Hello!Thank you very much for your evaluation! It is always a pleasure for us, when our guests feel well and relaxed at our house!Hopefully we are going to see you once again!Thank you very much!Your Gasthaus Mayrhof-Team
