The food is really worth the usually long waits. This is fundamentally a schnitzel restaurant, and they will take their time to make a huge and tasty one for you. My favorite is the Greyezer schnitzel. Recommendation: keep an eye for seasonal schnitzels, they are usually a good surprise

A typical Gasthaus: solid wooden tables and benches; beer coasters, eternally unchanging German atmosphere of "Bierstube" (this is a positive statement!). Quick service; dishes are inexpensive, tasty, generous. And the beer is good, too!I thought Flammeküche was specific to Elsass, but you get it here, too; paperthin down, good toppings.

Went after we'd been to the Grube Messel (just round the corner). Service was prompt and friendly and the food nice, generous portions. Deserts were also nice and refreshing. Good value for money if you're in the area but perhaps not worth a long drive.

My boyfriend lived in Austria so he was anxious to check out this restaurant. He selected an excellent Blaufrankisch (red wine) from Mittelburgenland to accompany his Zwiebelrostbraten (steak with onions), which he enjoyed. I ordered the sole with rice and broccoli, which was delicious. The server was friendly and attentive and the patio setting was beautiful but the bf felt the experience could have been a bit more authentic if the owners made some minor changes in keeping with true Austrian dining.

The setting is indeed perfect, especially if the weather cooperates. Unfortunately, today it was raining so we sat inside. Still, the indoor facilities are elegant and comfortable (except for the elevator tunes). Service was extremely attentive and helpful. As described by previous reviews, the food is very good and sophisticated. Furthermore, the wine list is extensive with a focus on Italian bottles (even some hard to get, like Amarone). The highlight of the meal was definitely dessert with a delicate egg custard topped with crunchy bits (interpretation of a Bienenstich). No, it was not traditional. I am glad because my grandmother's would have been better. However, I think the best asset of Jagdschloss Kranichstein is their dessert chef.So why only 4/5? First, the music. It was horrendous. Furthermore, the portions of the main dishes were somewhat small for the price. While the wine list was extensive, the selection of wines by the glass was somewhat limited. Finally, the dining room had multiple flies. It was no effort snapping a photo of two on them on my plate (see attached pictures). This should never be the case for a restaurant that strives to be of such caliber.

We went to Darmstadt especially to look for the Art Nouveau (known there as Jugendstil) - we found a way to Wedding tower in Mathildenhöhe, but we were rather disappointed. We left our car at a big parking lot where we noticed a place where we wanted to get just a cup (or rather two cups) of coffee. It was rainy day therefore all outside tables of Café Chaos were empty, although after getting inside we discovered that the place was overcrowded, but the atmosphere inside was simply great!. Our coffee was also fantastic, but the customers at other tables had also excellent looking pastries, sandwiches and soups â unfortunately, nothing from those delicacies were available to us because of our diet limits :-(

Iâve stopped here several times during my travels to Darmstadt, including twice for dinner my last visit late May. I love the setting, both the outdoor communal seating outside on the marketplace or the indoor seating within the historic old building. The food, while fairly basic, is really good in my opinion. And I love the beers. The service is always amazing efficient. If I lived close to this place I would be in real trouble. But I would like to live closer...and be able to stop by more often.

»das kru« â the place to be for a relaxing break Our fine food, fine wine and the relaxed ambience of our restaurant go hand in hand to create a truly unique dining experience. Whether joining us for a leisurely lunch or looking for somewhere special in t
Have been here twice for dinner. Both times the food was unique, well presented, nice portions (not too big nor small), well paired. My last visit there was a menu for the day for a reasonable price. It included an appetizer, a salad, main entree (I had chicken with vegetables), a souffle dessert, and wine. The restaurant is cozy by friendly atmosphere. The owner met us at the door and was most hospitable. Nice place for dinner!
