After a long bike ride through the beautiful Dutch countryside, we landed in Delft: a quaint version of Amsterdam complete with canals, flowers and old European architecture. Found âMattiesâ (thanks to my Trip Advisor app) and was immediately drawn in by the enticing menu, tasteful decor, and friendly, non pretentious staff that welcomed our Family into this very classy looking restaurant despite no reservations and our bike clothes ensemble. Our waiter, an absolutely delightful gentleman, spoke perfect English. He helped us with our selections and made dinner a fantastic experience...not just a delicious meal. From start to finish, I canât think of a meal Iâve enjoyed more. Freshly baked bread with a variety of toppings came first. Then we chose escargot as an appetizer and even our 10-year old daughter greedily ate her portion. We asked for some mixed greens (not on the menu) and the chef made us a fresh and flavorful salad to share. My wife had the Dover sole and I had the haddock with a side of tarragon sauce. Both were off-the-boat fresh, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. Our daughter had meat skewers and devoured her meal. We couldnât leave without a shared slice of Dutch apple pie: I am sure Iâve never had better. The restaurant boasts a very nice wine selection which our waiter happily assisted with. Our only regret: having to leave for the bike ride home. We will absolutely return to Matties again, but weâll remember to make a reservation. Every table was filled as we left and no wonder: this was a meal and experience to remember for years to come.

Owner Derek(thatâs the name they told me) is a conceited guy and very rude. Only one of the waitresses was polite and helpful. Overall very bad experience. I asked for a vegetarian burger they gave me the one with meat and told me thatâs a vegetarian one!! When I asked for the check, the owner was very rude. Avoid!!Dear Sir, it is a pity that this is your experience. that started with the distrust that we gave you meat while we served you a delicious vegetarian burger.

Not planning to come to eat in Delft, we happened upon this lovely café. We both ordered cream of asparagus soup and a sandwich. Mine was the most amazing tuna salad sandwich! it had very large caper berries, green beans and tuna on a delicious bread and a side salad. My partner had a toasted goat cheese and honey sandwhich - which he also loved. The soup was made with white asparagus and ham, and was also very good. Very reasonable prices, with a relaxed atmosphere right in the center.

Huszar is a cosy and comfortable cafe-brasserie where you can enjoy fair-trade and local products for a fair price. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. It's also a very nice place to just have a drink. We serve 30 types of Dutch beer, 5 on
nice place but with a limited craft beer selection. 5 beers on tap including one from Kompaan. About 10 bottled beers. There are much better craft beer places in Delft. . You can sit outside on the water. There's free WiFi.Besides 5 beers on tap, Huszár has a fine selection of 40 bottled beers. All beers are from Dutch microbreweries. Please have a look at our beer menu in Huszár or at the beer list on our website.

Prompt delivery of drinks! Nice steaks, one medium and one medium-rare, each cooked to perfection. Shrimp starter.Service was a bit off-hand, in contrast to our experience at lunch-time at De Delf. Not as good as we remembered it from our previous visit, three years ago.

Since 1979, a cosy "eetcafe" in the historic city centre of Delft. Loved by locals, students, tourists, young and old. Offers illy coffee, homemade cakes, fresh organic lunches. wine, beer and a tasty dinner for good prices!
A hearty and tasty meal served by pleasant waiting staff. It was a home-cooked meal away from home. If you are looking for good food, service and value - I will definitely recommend you pop in at 't Walletje. Welgedaan!

My wife and I had dinner their 5 or 6 days ago and we both very much enjoyed the food and ambiance of this Michelin "knife" rated restaurant in Delft. In my opinion as good as some one Michelin star restaurants.Delft is a hidden gem of a town, and a must stay for at least 2 nights if you are in the Netherlands. Delft is a very old town with a couple of large churches and a large European style "square" full of cafes and places to relax and enjoy a beer or wine. It very much feels like being in France and feels very different to Amsterdam. We stayed at the Flying Fox Inn, the birth place of the famous Dutch painter, Vermeer. Also very good and well situated in the hart of this old city. Most of the cafe's and restaurants in the old part of Delft are around the main square or one of the smaller squares. Not so for this Michelin knife restaurant, it is tucked away in a corner and you have to go find it.It is well worth the find. We lucked out arriving at 7.00 pm to a full house without a booking and scored the last table. It was a Monday night, so a busy place and I would advise to book ahead. The menu is European style in which you can choose 3, 4 and I think 5 courses, basically a degustation type menu. You can also add matching wines, which is what we did. All the food is fresh and local from their district. They have a good wine list.Great food, great service, and a fair price, dinner will not break the bank.Tip: Go for a walk from your hotel and find this place well before you booking. Then no problem at night in the dark heading direct to your dinner reservation.Highly recommended.Thank you so much for you realy lovely review! It motivate our team, we realy appreciate.See you next time! When you stay in the Netherlands. With many kind regards,Team restaurant van der Dussen

We had a truly delicious meal at Het Vermeertje, especially enjoying the delicious amuse bouches, the beef tartare with smoked egg and beef carpaccio appetizers, and very nice steak and fish main courses. My daughters devoured the desserts, especially the creatively presented "Milkmaid" chocolate dessert and an amazing strawberry/vanilla/pepper dessert. The flavors and presentation are stunning, especially given the very reasonable prices, and the kitchen clearly has a lot of fun preparing these dishes and in combining flavors creatively. The service is very friendly but quite slow - it took about 45 minutes from sitting down to order, for example.
