We have been to this Grotto for dinner on a sunday eve (18:45).. we did not have a reservation but still got a table directly... we ordered sparerips and roast beef with typical polenta.. a nice small bottle of Amarone wine and big bottle of water and later Tiramisu and maroni cake with ice cream for dessert... everything was tasty and the service/staff very quick and attentive... finally bit pricey with about 140 CHF... but at the end of the day it was a nice evening in a nice location .... we will come again

Very nice restaurant with typical dishes from the area, accessible by car or a (longer) walk from Ascona. Especially recommendable for an early dinner on a hot day, just great to sit under big trees and still see the sun shining on the opposite hillside...Price/value ratio is also very good.

A big plus for a vegetarian menu and quality of food. Everything we ordered was very tasty although the selected da enzo merlot was a bit disappointing. Allow 2 hours for a whole dinner otherwise you will get frustrated. I rarely comment on prices but this time I will say it "this place is damn expensive".

A homely family run restaurant... nothing pretentious! The service and food was great. It's a good place to go to with friends or family for a quiet dinner.

FOOD Gastronomy is the feather in our cap. From when the new restaurant has been built in 2011, not only the guests of the Hotel, but also the local people arrive and appreciate the moderne furnish combined to the breathtaking view in front of you. Our ph
My wife and I had a terrific lunch in all regards. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The setting on the terrace with the view across Lago Maggiore and the general ambience were very nice as well. However, the excellent food is the real star. We each chose to have the three-course menu, which had been recently set for autumn. We found each of our dishes to be excellent: rabbit liver pate, hazelnut-encrusted venison, and peach tarte with caramel ice cream. Weâre currently planning when will be our next visit.Dear travelin-tommy, warm thanks for your great review. We are happy you had a terrific experience at our restaurant. Besides our daily changing 4-course menu, we have a quiet large menu card which we adapt about every 3 months, according to the season. The autumn menu card, which proposes also game, has just been set in the beginning of September and you were the first to taste it We are looking forward to seeing you soon again at the Collinetta for one more tasty lunch or dinner. Sunny regards.

Modern Mediterranean cuisine at Lago Maggiore. The Lago restaurant is situated directly on the water-front promenade in Minusio â Locarno and features antipasti, homemade pasta and risotto, and gelati â everything that exudes la dolce vita. Plus, the meat
We've been twice here for lunch in the last two weeks and both times the service was professional and the food delicious. First time we all had the fish of the day (branzino) which was perfectly cooked. The second time the men in our family had the Angus Beef cooked in the high performance oven with french fries. They are still dreaming of it. One advise is that the salads can be shared if you are having a main course, They have a roof lounge open from 4pm to 11.30pm which we are looking forward to try out.

An elegant, beautiful fine dining restaurant. Both entrées were very good, with the ravioli with quark and leek in a mushroom sauce being the standout. The il misto di Pesce was a delicious assortment of 5 different fish and shellfish. My husband was slightly less impressed with his veal with morels and said he felt hungry afterwards which is very unusual for him. Service overall was good, but lost focus towards the end of our meal. The only minor negative was that the waiter insisted that service was not included in the bill: even though as a Swiss I know that it is mandated by Federal law (passed some 35 years ago) that service is included throughout Switzerland. A relaxing and enjoyable evening. Recommend.

The Restaurant Lachiesa is next to the ,,Santa Trinità " church in Locarno Monti. The restaurant has been renovated some years ago and has a beautiful view on the Maggiore Lake. Mediterranean dishes with some French and Asiatic details. Open days: from Tue
We live in these parts and have been wanting to try La Chiesa for some time now. This 14-point Gault-Millau restaurant is located in a beautifully restored church perched on the hillside overlooking Locarno. The Christmas menu included 4 courses (with amuse-bouche starter) - moist fish roulade with truffles, homemade al dente ravioli, juicy duck breast with a vegetable purée, and a nut roulade with homemade gelato to finish. Each dish was perfectly prepared, flavorful and pleasing to the eye. The wine list includes some interesting local choices, the service was friendly and attentive, the view spectacular. Worthy of its rating.

I love good wine and this place really hit the spot for me. My italian is horrible, and their english bad, but we made it work (thank you google translate). Not very busy on a rainy Friday night, so I sat at a table looking over the wine collection - just beautiful - wished my wife and friends who are enophiles could have joined me. I had the local merlot (house wine) and it was great! and reasonable. They had quite the wine selection and you could spend big bucks for the really expensive stuff they had.I had the steak frittes (steak with french fries), can't remember the italian name. Steak was sliced and placed on a warming tray at my table, simmering in garlic butter sauce. I dipped the bread in the sauce when they weren't looking - awesome!!!Really good steak (which I have a hard time finding in Europe) cooked to perfection (rare to medium rare) and great flavor on the sauce. Served with an absolute mountain of thin cut french fries.Grumpy old guy rating: Two thumbs WAY UP!
