Wow! This restaurant is typical German and the quality is outstanding. We went without booking one night and understandably it was full! Lesson learnt... we booked and got in. Great menu, huge portions, great service and price! Was nice to see the chef greeting customers too at the end of service! Bravo

While visiting Lippstadt on our tour round Germany we came across this restaurant. We were pleased to find it busy, which was a good sign, with a friendly greeting. Very pleasant surroundings and well laid out. Our food was, to say the least, excellent, well presented and fresh. A salad was offered free with our meals, which was also fresh and well kept in a cool server. The prices were very reasonable for the high standard of food we had. Highly recommended place to eat in Lippstadt.

I was hungry, very hungry. I've passed this joint on my way to the morning meeting and I wanted to try it out after the working day was over. So, I went there and unfortunately I had to remember all the German restaurant words I've learnt in school two decades ago. Inside was delightful German style biergarten. Older gentleman who was my waiter show me to a nice booth to have all the privacy. Nice. Then came the order time and all the words just came to my mind and I ordered nice Camembert cheese dish for starters and then for main course steak - in the menu this was the house steak or "haus steak". And of course Weisen beer to drink. After I finished my starters my waiter indicated to go to salad bar station for more salad so I did. Dishes were good and plentiful and for dessert my waiter offered a schnapps for free. Nice.Only thing that really didn't feel like part of the restaurant was their cheesy choice of background music - bad dance music from 80s and 90s since I was really expecting German music. Anyway treat yourself with authentic German food in Zum Anker. And after I got out I was no longer hungry. Not at all.

we ended up here as other restaurants closer to town were booked out for christmas gatherings ... wow .... what luck! only a short distance from the town centre in a fabulous old building, great food - we were there on schnitzel night and the range and quality of the buffet was great. Was very easy taking the all you can eat challenge - entree, main course (schnitzel ... various meats and many sauces), salads and vegetables .. plus dessert .... easily one of the best schintzel meals i have had ... please note i have had a lot of aussie schintzels!
