Looking for a pre-dinner Kolsch place and decided to give this place a try as it is a little away from the main restaurant thoroughfare which usually means good food not targeted solely at tourists. Ordered just the brewery plate which comprises black pudding and liver sausage, and a form of meat set in jelly. Accompanied with bread, salad, some delicious onions and pickles. We literally cleaned the plate. The Kolsch is needless to say, simply delicious. As non German speakers, I am quite happy with the efficient service without banter.

If you look for straightforward food taking textures and flavors seriously, the "Hase" is a great pleace to go. The food is not too elaborate but focuses on the individual ingredients. We had difficulties choosing from the menu - it had so many tempting dishes on it. The risotto with quail was just perfect: the quail tender and the rice to the point. The scallops were super nice and not at all dry, they were combined with artichocs and that was delicious and fresh. The main courses were great, too, but I often find the starters more interesting. Again, the ingredients were well chosen and tasty. If anything, I'd enjoy more vegetables and that is because they were just yummy. The wine menu was looking good, too. It is unfortunate that wines in German restaurants often are that pricy - 3 to 1 from retail price is just someties quite expensive. We chose two half bottles (great that they have a fine selection of those, too) - and both were delicious. The service changed flawlessly between German and English. We appreciated the extra mile the team went so we could enjoy a great time. And it's true, it's not very spacy in the restaurant - quite a few tables. We were lucky as our table stood alone.Overall, I look forward to my next visit...

The restaurant is located in Ehrenfeld. One of the multi-cultural quarters of Cologne, a little Turkish though. Parking in front is sparse. The interior is decorated with a lot of wood with pottery and brass stuff. The menu is not lengthy and lists most of the Cologne specialities. The wine menu has the same length. The food and the wine is good but don't expect Michelin style level.Try the Aquavit aperitif with Flöns. Flöns is a Cologne style sausage. And try the Reibekuchen which is another speciality. It's a fried potato cake. The service is nice and humorous without being impolite

This is a small specialist Belgian / German restaurant in a suburban town called Frechen. Selected from previous T-A reviews and not disappointed. The crab croquette salad starter was truly historic. The only minor complaint is that the frites were not as Belgian asa the rest of the meal. Would certainly go back.

We made advanced reservations for a Sunday evening and were very pleased that we chose this restaurant. It was a few minutes walk from the train, away from the tourist center of Koeln. We were promptly seated and given a menu with a variety of seasonal and classic Schnitzel dishes. I ordered the pumpkin and my partner ordered the mushroom cream sauce. We both thought they were the best Schnitzel dishes we'd ever had. We don't eat veal, but the pork was delicious and tender. The breading was light and crunchy - almost like a Southern USA cornmeal texture. It was truly heavenly. The portion was incredibly large and we wish we'd shared one - however, it was so delicious we ate a lot more than we thought we would! We definitely would recommend this place and would gladly return when again in Koeln.
