I had breakfast here with a friend. Although they have a nice outside sitting area we preferred to sit inside for our breakfast. We ordered from a breakfast menu and found everything we were looking for - from an extended German spread to a croissant with jam. The service was fast and friendly. The interior matches the historic outside of the building. I enjoyed this cafe very much.

I visited the Monopol on a recent business trip with a large group for dinner. I found the location very scenic with a outdoor dining balcony on those good weather evenings. The contemporary decor was very nice as well. Although enjoyable, I did find the food a little disappointing. My salad, unlike the guest next to me, was mostly onions and the portion of my entree was much smaller then an adjacent guest. Quality control seemed lacking. The food was adequate, but nothing particularly special in terms of flavor. I did notice some outstanding looking desserts, although I did not try any.As an option in Hameln, I would go back, but only because the choices in this quaint little village are limited.

I enjoyed a meal at Gastatte Reichsadler on a midweek evening with my traveling companion. We arrived to find the bar and restaurant packed. One of the servers gave us little hope of finding a place to sit for dinner. Waiting patiently, the owner (I assumed) was accommodating and found us a seat. This was not an english speaking establishment, nor the menus. We both had Schnitzels and they were generous and well prepared. The "hunters" variety was the best. Our beer choices were limited, but adequate. The prices were reasonable, especially for the portions provided. I also noted at an adjacent table that patrons were having steaks. They looked excellent for Germany! My experience has been that Germany tends to have expensive and not the best quality steaks from an American perspective. I may have to try a steak on a future trip. This is a locals place and if you are inhibited, you best not venture in if you are uncomfortable with that situation. I however highly recommend Gestate Reichsadler for good food and beverages.

This restaurant is set amid lovely woodlands on a hilltop just outside Hameln. The building is old and attractive but the cakes we had were only ok, rather than great. We sat outside under big umbrellas in glorious sunshine and neither the coffee nor the cakes matched the setting.

I regard this as the best beer hall and eatery in Hamelin. The Krug has real character and the ambience is wonderful. The service is friendly and efficient and they serve a wide variety of traditional dishes. The rat theme fits perfectly with the whole town's theme and no matter what the weather outside, you will have a good time. I met some delightful locals and despite a language barrier managed to have a great time.A must visit.

The Gourmet Restaurant (that's the name of the place) at Schlosshotel Münchhausen truly deserves it's credits like one star in Guide Michelin and 17 points in Gault Millau, which IMO is even slightly underrated. The food that we had there definitely was of 2 star quality. The menu consists of about 12 different dishes, that you can combine at will to a 4, 6, 8 or 12 course menu. Everything that we had was very good and some dishes were true delights. The service was very friendly and competent. And the ambience formal, but warm and comfortable. We ate there with our 8 year old, and they made great efforts in accommodating his special requests, so that he finally pleased the staff with his verdict that this was the best restaurant he ever visited. The hotel itself is very nice too (see the reviews for the hotel). Very suitable for a 'Gourmet Weekend'.

So I lived in Hameln for 3 years and never knew this place existed. I visited for the first time today with family and friends and I was truly surprised. Great selection of pancakes, never knew you could have pancakes with so many different options. The environment is really relaxing and romantic. This is the type of place I can imagine relaxing with a bottle of wine and trying a pancake with a different filings.Worth a visit if you happen to be in Hameln.

The Family History It seems that the Kretschmer family have service to other in their blood, for they have now been serving both the German civil, and the British military communities for three generations! The post war years were difficult for everyone,
We were a group of 7 on a business trip to Hanover motor show and stayed in Hameln. Had not planned evening meal and chose Zum Schultheiss based on previous reviews. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the accompaniments were typical German hearty fare. All very tasty! Staff even brought out starters on the house. Overall excellent!Zum Schultheiss has a nice beer garden surrounded by high hedges to keep it quite secluded, which seemed to have a good atmosphere going, but we stayed inside for comfort. The restaurant is located approx. 15 min walk from the pedestrianised centre of Hameln.

The food was both unusual and beautifully presented, but quite expense. We were a family of 10 and while they put us in a room all by ourselves (probably to hold down the noise with four little children), there was no way to come out of that restaurant without having laid down a couple hundred dollars for all of us.

Was on holiday visiting family in Hamlen and we were recommended this restaurant as it does a lovely schnitzel tag every Wednesday. The food was great and well priced. The staff were friendly and welcoming, we had a great night and would recommend to anyone :)
