Had driven by this place for a week and finally had a meal their. They are very busy and very popular. The menu is not large but what they serve is very good and nice portions. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Prices are moderate in range. Very clean and nicely laid out.

This place has great food - the baked lasagna bolognese was excellent as was the bacon wrapped, cheese filled sausage. Has a nice outdoor patio and pleasant indoor seating as well. Service was great. Highly recommend this place for anyone staying in Obertraun.

Wonderful lunching al fresco and savouring quaint Hallstatt! Our waiter was very accommodating, entertaining and quick! Lunch was excellent! There for the day, we walked into this hotel for lunch, as recommended by the Concierge of our Salzburg Hotel Goldener Hirsch. We are very glad we did!

Escaping the tourist invasion in Hallstatt, this lovely gasthaus in the woods was a welcome retreat with the river flowing to add to the ambiance. Great summer terrace. The food is both traditional and modern with such surprises as seibling carpaccio or homemade goat cheese noodles with mushrooms, spinach and pesto. Everything was first rate and presented well. This place is a hidden gem for sure. Must visit.

Food is okay, nothing special. The personnel is very friendly, a big plus for this restaurant. The interior is really old fashioned but typical for Austria. The chairs were not really comfortabel. The rose was not very tasteful. There is not much choice for restaurants in Obertraun but this is good for regular night. Prices are sharp.

Just stopped for a coffee and strudel, with grandson asking for his normal schnitzel, which was well presented and enjoyed

Hallstatt is a tiny place with about 10-15 restaurants, and the ones that face the lake have the advantage of location, so you need good food to generate good reviews and repeat business, and we're glad we chose Gasthof Zauner for our final meal of our visit. We had the pork schnitzel and enterelles (mushrooms) salad, and two local Austrian beers, and just soaked in the ambiance of the most perfect little Austrian village square. The proprietor was very friendly and taught us some German names for the dishes, and was very entertaining to both customers and chatting with the other shop-keepers. It was also a good sign that all of the other customers were speaking German, so they probably recognized good food quality.

Taking in consideration that Hallstatt is full of tourists , specially from Asia which are not familiar with local food this is a fair place with good price/quality relation for Hallstatt .

We had a first row table on the terrace next to the lake. It is a large restaurant with enough tables inside and and on the terrace. The terrace has a covered area and a part on the water. The places along the water were the best spot with a magnificent view on the lake and the mountains. The only downside were the flying ants, they were everywhere on the tables. The personnel was really friendly and knew all about the menu. The main courses were delicious, the dessert not so much. The prosecco was very tasteful. The prices were okay taking into account that it is in Hallstatt and next to the lake.

Our excursion restaurant has closed seasonally from the end of October to May 2020. By May 2020, we have reopened!
We visited this Gasthaus for lunch, during a hike around the Hallstatt lake. They have outdoors tables and the view over the lake and mountains is breathtaking. We ordered a portion of fried chicken, a typical "snack" made by buttered bread, cheese and salami and a slice of poppy-seed cake, an apple juice and a small radler beer for a total of â¬30. They have English menu and the staff is friendly. Recommended!
