South of Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the Austrian border lies Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, rising nearly 10,000 feet and offering gorgeous glacier-top skiing. The towns of Garmisch and Partenkirchen used to be separate, but were merged for the 1936 Winter Olympics. With almost 75 miles of downhill runs of all difficulty levels, Zugspitze also has 68 miles of cross-country trails, a terrain park and Germany's first superpipe. It's super cool to say you were skiing in Garmisch, so be sure to spread the word upon your return.

We have now visited most restaurants in Garmisch and if you are searching for authentic Bavarian atmosphere with a dining experience that encapsulates the region in both food and drink then this hostelry should be top of your list.I would recommend that you make a booking (it was extremely busy on both our visits) and also make time for a pre-dinner drink in the charming little bar area where the barman will pour a perfect glass of local beer. The food is simply wonderful. The portions are more than adequate - not as gargantuan as some you will find locally - and they manage to balance quantity and quality with great skill. My wife chose schnitzel on both visits, whilst I opted for local trout on the first night followed by braised beef in red wine on the second. Our son was also very happy with his pork on the first visit and farmer's grill on the second.I had no room left for a pudding !We chose a carafe of Trocken white wine, which was very pleasant. In conclusion, I simply cannot heap enough praise on this outstanding restaurant. The staff are wonderful, prices are very reasonable, and the setting - both interior and exterior - are utterly charming. Visit this restaurant !Dear jonathandeeley,we are very happy that we could inspire you! For us, Bavarian hospitality is not just a profession but a way of life. We would like to bring this closer to our guests with each visit. The aim of our cuisine is to offer authentic, tasty dishes at a fair price. Many thanks for the kind words and many greetings from Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The whole family dropped in for a lunchtime meal, we were greeted by a friendly waiter who took us to our seats, I had the Goulash soup, what a great bowl of food this was, and the kids had Schnitzels and chips, all beautifully cooked and presented.Great beer and the schnaps afterwards rounded off the lunch nicely. We dropped back on Boxing day and were surprised to find them open, still had a warm greeting , more Goulash soup and my partner has the crepes with ice cream, all thoroughly enjoyable. They take credit cards and staff speak good English, Definitely worth the visit...

Beware they do not take credit cards. This place was neat. The food was excellent however they can run out of things on the menu. The interior is great and really seems to reflect the mountain chateau feeling. Portions are large and the prices reasonable. Can't say enough positive. Try it.

Wir sind ein Familienunternehmen. Wir bieten an: Wöchentlich wechselnde Karte, Nudelgerichte, Risotto aller Art, Mediterrane Küche, Fisch, Fleisch, Salatplatten, Kaffee und hausgemachte Kuchen. Auch für Geburtstagsfeiern, Geschäftsessen oder sonstige Feie
Very good people human and open for questions and suggestions. Asking for feedback and improvements. The tables on the walkway was not a problem as it is fun watching people in and outside the restaurant walking by. The train can be a bit noisy but only for a moment. Food was very good and light, pasta or dumplings. It was so good I had to eat two evenings in a row, and as I was climbing up the Zugspitze, I asked for a BIG "Männer" portion of pasta and got it, just right to close such a heroic day!!! Thanks team well done!

VAUN is a great little restaurant outside the Garmisch-Partenkirchen centrum. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious and thoughtful. The menu is slim, but what is on there is made well and with fresh ingredients. If youâre in the market for something other than standard German food, this is a must-visit!

We tried the hamburger, the raclette steak and the Groschtl that consists of 2 friend eggs and potatoes with a selección oficial meat. Everything was good and tasty. The waitress provided with coloring book and pencils for the child's entertainment. Waiting time was good as well as not expensive prices. If you are around, you will probably want to make a visit.

Located in Partenkirchen, next to bus stop. Beautiful old town area with lots of shops and restaurants. Schloderer a baverean atmosphere. Comfortable, casual, small and friendly service. They will accommodate just about any dietary requests you have. My wife requires gluten free and they made one of the meals on the menu gluten free for her. Warning, very popular with locals so if you want a seat go early.

Sat down, someone cleaned the table but left the dirty ashtray, then eventually returned with a menu. The wait wasnât over though as taking the order was also super slow. Drinks arrived and then the pizzaâs in a decent time. However the staff then disappeared for ages. Food eaten, drinks finished and no sign of staff. Eventually someone appeared to remove the plates. The pizza was good and the Ayinger beer a nice alternative in the area. It is a restaurant though, no drinking without eating appeared to be possible.

While staying in the Hotel Zugspitze we are here several times. The traditional breakfast was consistently good. Dinner menu somewhat limited although is was off-season. Staff very efficient and by German standards friendly. With so many great places to eat within 5-10 minutes walking distance we would not go out of our way to eat here. But the bar in the hotel is great, with live music and lots of locals in attendance on Thursday nights. Christine in the bar is great--friendly and helpful. We would go out of our way to have a drink here
