au bain marie has a ala carte, a day menu (except on weekeend) and a month menu. The month menu is very tasty with 5 or 6 dishes. You can chose for wine included or without wine. The waiters are discret, but friendly. Isabelle, the owner is very friendly. You need some time to taste all this beautifull dishes.

Presentation of food and taste was amazing. Owners attention to detail and hospitality top class. Was very fortunate to be invited to this restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately it was already too dark to appreciate the riverside location which I am told is also great. .

We were fortunate to visit d'Ouwe Hoeve on a gorgeous late May evening. The back terrace is lovely and the setting could not have been more delightful. Food, however, was mixed and over-priced for what we got, especially with regards to first courses. The lowest-priced starter was a â¬10 asparagus soup (served hot in a chipped and cracked tureen, and quite good with big chunks of white asparagus and laced with nutmeg), but other starter options ranged from â¬17 upwards. A burratta and tomato salad served on a bed of thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes and sporting wedges of smaller red and yellow tomatoes was also tasty, if pricey and lacking in seasoning. My husband and I both ordered the Filet Pur and received excellent steaks for â¬32 each. Things fell short with the accompanying sides (not mentioned on the all-Dutch menu): "salad" was unadorned lettuce and tomato wedges (no seasoning or dressing of any sort, nor was any offered) sharing the plate with my steak while my husband's mixed vegetables consisted of bland endive, carrots and a bit of white asparagus all cooked to mush and served on a puree of chicory and potato (I think) barely seasoned with nutmeg. A small side of french fries was also bland and not crispy. At â¬5, the Argentinian Merlot by-the-glass was both surprisingly good and surprisingly well-priced and paired well with steak.Dress on this warm evening ran the gamut from smart casual to shorts. While the back terrace is beautiful and the front, road-side terrace looks nice for a drink, the interior is quaint-running-to-a-little-shabby. The toilet area is one of those old-fashioned affairs where women must walk past the men's toilet to get to the women's stalls. The missing half of saloon-style doors provides an open view to passing women and girls of the row of urinals in the men's toilet.

The service is mesmerizing, staff gives one a lot of personal attention. Room is decorated in exquisite taste. Quit setting. Open kitchen.Clearly, the owner-cook is passionate about his art, and almost looks like an alchemist when stirring in his "caldrons". I appreciate it that he, nevertheless, still finds the time for small talk and cracking a joke with his guests.and oh, I forgot to mention: the lobsters are mouth-watering and out-of-this world.
