Ample, homecooked baked goods, meats, soups in a mountainside Bavarian country setting. Great stop on a bike tour. Plan to spend some time here soaking up the atmosphere.

Chose an outside table which was on a road with some traffic noise which was a little distracting. However the food made up for this is was superb. Could have done with some patio heaters to take the chill off the evening. Service was good, would recommend

We were a party of six and everyone ordered something else. All were pleased with their selection. They offered the best Kaiserschmarren in the area - we know because we tried dish and every restaurant we came across. The small portion was enough for all of us to share as a dessert. Our only disappointment was the way the owner treated the wait staff. She seem to lose her temper often in front of the customers.

I had read the reviews, including those that mentioned bugs. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well tonight we chose Restaurant Wolf for dinner. My brother ordered the Venison Rague with Spätzle and within seconds he noticed something moving..a worm from the lettuce leave that had been used as decoration on the bowl of Spätzle. He discreetly called over the waitress and she took away the bowl and shortly after brought it back and said âitâs Ok nowâ.No idea if it was the same bowl, sans larva! There was no further apology, no offer of any kind of compensation for what was a spoiled dinner experience for all of us.This was our last night in Oberammergau, and I regret this will be the memory we will take away with us. I can not recommend Restaurant Wolf in good conscience.

I came here with a large group and had a soup, venison goulash and a lovely dessert consisting of fruit compote topped with warm meringue. Savory, simple and creative. No complaints here. The owner came around and did magic tricks during our meal. Very friendly and charming atmosphere.

This is the restaurant beneath the Maximilian Hotel. The bar is popular with internationals from the NATO school so you get a good mix of nationalities in here & a nice atmosphere. The food is good Bavarian food but beware...the portions are hefty so some people like to share. The beer is brewed onsite & good too. The staff are friendly & helpful generally, but we visited two nights in a row & on the Saturday night the staff were less attentive & we felt we were abandoned at times. I would definitely eat here again though.

The atmosphere is informal but super comfy, with large tables to accommodate families. Portions are very generous and the food is delicious. The service is epic, friendly, fun, and inviting. Definitely recommend for families or couples.

We cook young Bavarian cuisine. This tastes unusually bold, modern and unexpectedly bloody guad.
Got to the restaurant after a long trip - a welcome respite from a long drive. Restaurant only seats maybe 25 people so a reservation would probably be a good idea during the busy season. My daughter got the polenta and I ordered the trout, we shared dishes, and both were outstanding. The server was most pleasant, patiently listening to my attempts at German! Great food and great local beer made for a delightful meal.

Today we returned for lunch. Their various venison dishes are prepared with great care. That is obvious from the presentation and of course the taste. We love venison, and unfortunately, in the USA we can't get it, especially in South Florida.dBoth times we also had the desert - a pastry in the form of a swan filled with ice cream, whipped cream, decorated with strawberries and a sauce of choice - chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, egg liquor, and a few more I don't remember.

We went twice, whist we stayed in Bad Kohlgrub as part as a walking group. We had a limited menu, due to the size of the group, but the food was good, with large portions. All the staff was very friendly and service was very good.
