Find out what Central European restaurants to try in Amersfoort. Monolithic gates still protect Amersfoort, a well-preserved medieval city that remains connected to its history. Built into the foundations of 13th-century defensive walls, the Muurhuizen wall houses are one of the city’s most intriguing features. Art enthusiasts should visit the Mondriaan House (birthplace of abstract artist Piet Mondriaan) and the Armando Museum, a collection of works by the famed Dutch painter.

I had dinner two differents nights. The service of the restaurant could be a little better. You have to wait a lot for ordering and for serving your meal. Restaurant prices are normal, not cheap but not too expensive.I recommend you the "tournedos on the rock", although it is a bit expensive for its size. And of course, the "chocolate soufflé". The "steak salad" is also quite good but you have a free salad buffet so I think that it doesn't deserve. You can also order a daily menu for 25â¬.

Delightful outdoor spot that is not as crowded as the main square in town. Gotta love the irreverent decor with lots of religious statues above the bar and icons on the wall. Waiters are rough around the edges but friendly, and they surprised us with a plate of tapas to go with our drinks.

The food is great! Well cooked and presented. But the service is very poor. There are better restaurants in this square.

Dinner with friends at Sloop was one of our most pleasant dining experiences. Set beside one of the many canals Sloop offers a quite diverse menu of both cold and warm mid-sized dishes for which it is intended that about 3-4 would provide a filling meal.We found that 3 with a couple of side dishes was ample and provided the opportunity to try different combinations ranging from veal, steak, seafood and poultry. Desert options were quite limited but included a cheese plate.Matched wines are suggested by the glass or there is a range of bottled wine to choose from. Service was attentive and helpful and the overall price very reasonable at about 170 euro for four persons including 1-2 glasses of wine each. Strongly recommend.

Heart warming service by the friendly owner. I had a steak, which was great, though what I really enjoyed is that they really serve great vegetables with it. It is not just there for decoration, as we see a lot in common bistros. The chef really makes an effort to provide you with a good dish.

'Alberts Eten & Drinken' is a bar / restaurant with its own character. We are in one of the most beautiful and monumental buildings of Amersfoort. The restaurant is the old home from the Alberts family, who lived here for 50 years. You are welcome from 10
Quirky building with a very rich history, it dates back several centuries. You can still see that the walls are a bit curvy, which is very interesting. The food is very good, they combine an interesting fusion of European with South East Asian cuisine. Nice place for a after work drink and food with colleagues or friends

We were in a larger group and had the tasting menu. Several really nice and elegant dishes, special flavours and good combinations. At one point they ran the risk of going overly poncy, but, to my mind, they did not go over the top. All of this was combined with a good wine pairing for each of the courses and that makes it a good recommendation.
