Things to do in Begur

Veggie hubby and I have perused many restaurants in this lovely little town (due to his irritating principles) with many places remaining off limits due to their so called vegetarian friendly menus. If you fancy, carpaccio of tomato or gazpacho, or indeed tomato salad, does this actually qualify you as vegetarian friendly? I think not. However, we were drawn in here by the quirky ironworks and statues, that adorn this garden and building. The menu is more rustic ( a good thing), with a number of veggie options available. Despite enjoying our food, I did believe, this was slightly more expensive than other places in Begur (â¬25 for kid chops, as opposed to â¬16 in town). Altogether well run place and family friendly too.

Tried this place without booking, and despite being given a table in the corner, we quite enjoyed our visit. As it was busy, there was a good atmosphere, with many families enjoying the terrace at the rear of the property.Realised they were wanting to turn the tables we were rushed slightly, which was our only criticism.Hubby has not enjoyed the limited veggie offerings in the town, but did report satisfaction with his gazpacho (with accompaniments) and crispy pizza. My lamb chops were much nicer and way cheaper than yesterdayâs place. Overall, we thought this a great value, vegetarian and family friendly restaurant.

Food is pre made and sitting on the bar. Itâs traditional Pintxos that for example you would find in San Sebastián. You choose what you want and keep the sticks and give in sticks to calculate your bill at end. Traditionally The Basques would not take a plate and fill with Pintxos they would stand at bar and eat one leaning forward with a drink at bar. But our friends loved this place and food tasted fresh. A fair amount of bread but a couple of options without bread. Friendly service and nice setting.

I went here with six others and we all loved it. Choices made included salad, frankfurter and burgers. My top tip is to go for the tapas options- very tasty, chicken wings, croquettes, anchovies and tortilla were all delicious. Very good value, big portions along with great food. Most of all though the staff were so friendly, prompt and pleasant. Would highly recommend - great prices too x

On the heart of the old town of Begur, you'll find one of the oldest restaurants on the area, where we offer you the opportunity of choosing very fresh fishes from the nearest coast of Begur and we'll cook it in front of you in a old wood oven. We also ha
We chose this restaurant because of the reviews and because we wanted an authentic Spanish experience. This is quite a small restaurant and so reservation is essential-we saw several people turned away during our visit. The starters were very pleasant-chefâs salad and escalibada- but the fish was the real star. The proprietor visits your table with a tray of different fish. He explains the merits in great detail, telling you the price. We chose Forkbeard. It was delicious. Fish is cooked and served whole on a bed of potatoes, onions and tomatoes with a generous helping of parsley.Iâm not a fan of eating whole fish because I hate wrestling with the bones but I can honestly say that on this occasion the taste of the fish more than made up for the inconvenience. We found the starters a little on the expensive side but â¬34 euros for such a superbly cooked fresh fish was well worth it. Service was efficient and friendly.

Itâs economical, and not unfriendly - but thatâs about the most I can say for this place. When a pudding comes to your table still in its supermarket packaging, complete with âbest beforeâ date, you know youâve gone budget. Would not feature in a list of my recommendations in Begur, unless youâre staying there for a month and have tried everywhere else. And even then, probably not. For a few euros more you can do so much better in this town. Muchas gracias, Can pere

Tiny and cozy restaurant, located inside a peculiar house. Our food is fresh, varied, respectful... with our tradition and the products we carefully select. We don't like labels much. We don't claim to be a gastronomic top restaurant, nor solely a traditi
We had a truly wonderful, dining experience at Turandot. Authentic Spanish food, somewhat different to that to be found in the rest of the town, very well chosen local wines, and excellent service from charming staff. We have visited Begur many times and cannot understand why we have not been to this restaurant before!

Fresh, simple cuisine, using local ingredients. Products are respected by our chef, and the dishes require no explanation.
This restaurant has a wonderful courtyard setting just at the bottom of the Aiguafreda car park. It has a very relaxed feel. As you would expect, there is a lot of fish/seafood although one of the party ate a very tender and beautifully cooked steak. We ate rascassa fish which was soft and juicy although the fish is perhaps not particularly flavourful in itself so might have benefitted from more seasoning. The wine is very reasonably priced, service quick, helpful and friendly. The owner, Oscar, speaks flawless English. All in all a really lovely dining experience - would definitely go back. Hi, SharonSamantha,Thank you for your review on our place. Some people might agree with you as for the seasoning, but we try to deliver fish as it is so that if offers all it has, without any additional sauces.Kindest regards,Oscar

Restored stone farmhouse with great views of the castle of Begur, where we offer a variety of pintxos and tapas prepared. All in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Was not at all encouraged by the approach to this rather off-the-beaten-track location, but was more than delighted by what I found when I got there. Friendly service, excellent food and (a relief, given the comment in one recent post) an economical and interesting wine list. Highly recommended.

Entirely concur with the many Tripadvisor plaudits about the quality of food at this tiny and always packed location. Accept seats at the bar if they canât reserve you a table. Just take care with your ordering. The menu recommends three plates and one dessert per person; a shared portion of jamon iberico and three or four plates between a couple might be a safer way to start, and then order more as and when you need it. Everything prepared fresh, pretty much in front of your eyes. Strongly recommended.
