Mama Rose Restaurant and Bar

We spent our last three nights in Laborie following a ten day stay in Rodney Bay. What a pleasure it was to meet Aidan at Mama Rose, to hear his stories about his family owned Restaurant and to enjoy the fresh fish, black eyed peas and fried plantain. The environment is casual and within walking distance of the Beach. We highly recommend a visit to Laborie and Mama Rose for a cold Piton and some great local food.

This is a fabulous roadside restaurant serving sit down and takeaway meals, mainly to locals. Meat and fish is constantly on the go, and presented as wraps or sit down meals. The portions are big and accompanied by generous amounts of salad, rice, dahk and vegetables with a choice of dressings. There is a good selection of cold soft and alcoholic drinks. My partner is vegaterian, and was more than happy with her portion of veg and salad, which included brown rice, avocado, plantain and cassava. The staff are lovely and the food is great value. We returned again two days later. Highly recommended!

A quaint restaurant with an authentic taste of St. Lucia's local cuisine.

We found this because the proprietor's son runs Cook Like A Lucian and she helps him with that business. We had the chicken curry and lots of other small portions of authentic Lucian cuisine as well a delicious sorrel juice. Close to the airport, so a great stop for lunch before flying out (far better than departure lounge cuisine!). The only down side is that it's difficult to find, which is why there are so few reviews. All the other customers were Lucians and there was a steady stream of them. Highly recommended!

While staying at Coconut Bay, we escaped from the resort to explore the local scene. The Ugly Mug was right next to the resort, so we stopped in there. My friend got an IPA which he enjoyed, and I got the rum punch which was excellent in taste and fresh fruit flavors. The employees were friendly and made us feel comfortable, even suggesting that we could take our drinks to go to explore the other spots

The restaurant has a beautiful blend of history and culture as well as tasty local cuisine.

We selected this restaurant for our lunch meal before flying home. Good tender local creole chicken and ground provisions. Large portions served at $5/pp before tip. I only gave it a 4 because the creole cooking in St. Lucia isn't spicy enough for me. There were 3 lunch plates available on the day that we went.Friendly owner and aunt who assister her - I didn't find the owner rude, like the last poster. Cute outdoor dining area.Directions - take the main road into town. Commercial is a one way street so go to Theodore, turn right and take it to the very end (Giraudy). So one block back north (right) to Commercial and it is near the intersection.

Just off the Main Street in Laborie this little restaurant is a gem not to be missed. It only seats 12-14 but Mama Tilley keeps clients moving through. She is a hard worker who keeps the kitchen moving but always has time for a chat. We had lobster and bbq chicken which my wife and I shared. Because we shared we were given one and a half lobsters. Prices are very good and the quality great. Mama Tilley is the chef and waitress and she is keen to know that your meal is perfect. Great evening, marvellous food.

We stopped her for a quick bite and drink after collecting some family from the airport. We only ordered some chicken wings and it too about 30 mins to get to the table. They were very tasty wings though.I found the prices a bit high for what you got.The beach looks beautiful but you will have to step over a large amount of seaweed before you get to the sea and the sea is fairly rough on this part of the island.

Pleasant place on the beach with lots of dogs & cats. But the order of calamari that we had with two beers was such a ripoff, it spoiled our experience. The calamari was tasty but when the dish arrived, we thought it was a joke. Nine little rings which cost us $16.00 USD. We've travelled extensively & eaten in many places. We've never seen such a stingy little helping of anything, let alone a $16.00 appetizer. Usually you get a big mound of calamari.Hello Laini, thanks for taking the time to review us. The calamari is a very popular item on our menu and, like all our dishes, it is home-made and prepared from scratch - not shaken out of a bag and into the deep-fryer. The same goes for our fish fingers (local marlin), chicken fingers, pizza, burgers, and so on. Just as importantly, please double-check your credit card statement and you will see that the calamari is EC$16, which is just under US$6. We pride ourselves at The Reef at aiming to keep our prices as low as possible so as to be a beach cafe that can be welcoming to all: locals and visitors alike.
