Reviews on Caribbean food in Georgetown, Demerara-Mahaica, Guyana. Although not a crowded Caribbean tourist spot, Georgetown is a unique city that serves as a perfect jumping point for ecotours into the South American interior. Its Victorian and Dutch Colonial architecture is detailed with louvered window shutters and brick and stone work. Built below the high tide level, the city is protected by a large seawall and drained by a grid of canals. Sundry goods can be found at the distinctive Stabroek Market, while the landmark Light House offers panoramic views.

This is a restaurant 7 days a week for lunch and is a night club at night. The one man bands are really good and is crowded on their best nights. It is large and has an indoor area and large patio area with bar. Food served at night include fish and chips, and wild meats like Labba Iguana are on the menu most times. Best nights are Sunday, Monday night Karaoke. Wednesday and Friday and is a favorite with mixed crowd of 25 and older crowd. Party starts 11pm to 5am or later. I always go at least twice when visiting Guyana and have never been disappointed.

For a coffee shop, one of the poorest I have been to. Only the owner knows how to make the coffee. The staff doesn't. It is usually left to them. This applies to the branch in the gift land mall. The fast food chicken spot makes better coffee!
Bistro Cafe & Bar Offers a chilled & Relaxed Vibe with an Amazing Menu, Along with tantalizing daily entrees , Wines, Cocktails and Coffees by Nespress
The chicken and waffles are a great twist. for anyone who has visited Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in California, expect something different. The chicken is friend tenders that taste great. Waffles are light and fluffy. The ambiance however leaves every venue I have visited in the dust. Nice lighting, decor, and great staff. Definitely a winner!

I went to Maggie's several times for breakfast. I tried the pine tart which was quite good. The coffee was very good too. Both were affordable ($2 US for both). However, lunch options (limited, salads, sandwiches, etc) can be slightly more expensive. One of few places where you can find salads though. Nice, well lit and clean.

This is not a "normal" restaurant. The owner, Delven Adams, runs this from his own backyard. Reservations are made by Facebook, telephone or through a third party who has the details. The place is limited to just one party, be it a couple or larger. It is a cosy outside venue. It is possible to go with Delven to pick your supplies from the market. He has a great rapport with the various stall owners. He loves to show off the many vegetables, fruits etc which local and fresh. Wandering round with him was not just a delight but also an education. We chatted, laughed and swapped recipes. This market visit is highly recommendedWe chose fish for our lunch. The choice was immense both in variety and size. Delven knew just the one for us. He prepared mine with a garlic herb sauce which was so delicious. We had a soup/broth made from coconut, lemongrass, fish and a hint of chilli. All was so fresh, so scrumptious, so......There were a couple of feral cats which were delightful. I hope that they will be neutered and encouraged. Go for a truly memorable experience

On 11th May 2011, Night Cap opened itâs doors for the first time, and we have graciously greeted all those who passed through them ever since. To this day, Night Cap encompasses more than just late night dining or a place to hangout and relax. Itâs where
Came here once back in 2012 for a light snack in late in the evening. Sat inside the cool airconditioned area. Had a burger and fries and thought it was really delicious. Probably one of the best places for burgers in Georgetown. Staff and owners are very hard working and treat their customers really well. There's no place else in Guyana that has such polite staff! The restaurant is situated close to the Embassy of Russia as well. Many embassy staff and Russian tourists eat here. I however recommend not sitting outdoors during the night as one can be riddled with mosquitoes!

I had the Sunday morning breakfast buffet and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and the mix of local dishes; roti, curry, egg ball etc, and pancakes, sausages etc made for a very good line up. I decided to go local and loved the curry and the roti. The eggball was good too. The staff is friendly and attentive. Overall a very good experience.Thank you for your review. We are pleased that everything was to your satisfaction. Please do come back soon!
