My mom visited from abroad and I wanted to treat her to a nice lunch as we have had very nice meals at Gio previously. This was a very different and disappointing experience. We were greeted when we walked and in and were seated immediately as it was fairly quiet. We spoke Swedish once we had been seated as we are Swedish... The server came to take our drink orders but did not initiate any small talk at all with us (like she did with other guests where everyone at the table spoke in English). People usually think I am British when I speak English and my mom speaks decent English meaning attempting some small talk whilst taking our drink orders would not have been an issue. One would think that the same protocol should be used for all guests regardless of whether or not the guests converse in English or another language. We received our drinks and ordered food. We ordered the lobster rolls. They were excellent and we both enjoyed that aspect of the meal. I was disappointed by the lack of engagement by our server. I am not saying the service was terrible but it was not the excellent the level of service I have received when I have eaten at Gio with my wife. Thank you for these details, SwedeAbroad. This is not the type of experience we want our guests to have, nor the type of experience we should be giving.I take some solace in that you thought the food was excellent, but the service should have matched.I send my apologies for the disappointment, and should you want to talk about it any further, you can email me at [email protected] care!

The portions are fantastic, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are very good. This isn't a fancy restaurant, but based on how busy they are lots of others feel the same as I do that it offers a great meal for a great price. Arrive early as prime dining times are very busy.

Went here for the crobster and to see what it looks like inside. We went to little C. The crobster was delicious. We sat outside facing the sidewalk and watched the people. It was awesome. Great place to go. My daughter had a chocolate chip cookie which I tasted and was also delicious. Was so cool to visit somewhere the from the Big Food Bucket List. The service was great. We used the washrooms which was also nice inside and decorated nicely. Thanks for coming in! People watching on Portland is one of our favourite spots to sit. Hope to see you again soon!

Glad we went based on reviews. Staff was super friendly and great decor. Scallops and crab cakes were delicious. Halibut was great, if youâre a fan of pesto. Definitely recommend it for dinner.

Iâve had a few dishes here, but the Brussels sprouts are what stands out....they are so very tasty. Iâve gone back a number of times and always have the sprouts. The service, atmosphere and food are terrific.Thank you for such a kind review, Liv! Our Brussel sprouts are certainly a fan favourite. Hopefully we'll see you again sometime to try something new!

The restaurant has such a lovely atmosphere. Very quiet and romantic. The food is just so good. Appetizer was crab cakes. It had huge chunks of crab plus the base included great shrimp. Mains were tuna and duck. The tuna was so tender and tasty. It has been quite a while since I had such fabulous tuna and it was cooked perfectly. The duck was very rich and flavourful. Great wine to go with both meals. All the prices of food and wine are so reasonable for the high quality. Our server, Kelsey, added so much to the evening. She is extremely personable and delivers outstanding service. Kelsey is a real asset to the restaurant and certainly makes you want to return.Thank you for taking the time to post this review.I am pleased to hear you enjoyed our food, wine and service. Kelsey is a great front of house leader and recently earned her WSET Level 1 award for wine service and knowledge. We hope to serve you again soon!Sincerely,Robert PrettyOwner, The Halliburton HotelHalifax, Nova Scotia

One of the top 25 places to drink in Nova Scotia - Curated Magazine Best new business - The Grapevine Best Venue For Drinks - The Grapevine Best Place to Meet with Friends - The Grapevine The Maritime Express Cider Co., is a cidery and taproom located in
Maritime Express is housed in a stately former hotel building from the days when trains ran service to the town of Kentville. It is worth a visit to soak up tha atmosphere of this impressive historical building. We sampled the. Vegetarian and Chicken sandwiches from the small one page menu. Both were tasty but not sizeable. Bigger appetites would be satiated with the eye catching burger. Try the Cider Flight which is ample and the best way to get a taste of what is on tap.For the beer lover there are plenty Craft Brews listed on the chalk board.
