Family Dining
The Riverside is situated at a highway intersection that has a âmiddle of nowhereâ look. This cozy restaurant accordingly functions like an oasis â a gathering spot for locals and an eatery for tourists vacationing nearby or just taking the back roads like CJ and I were. It just happened to be lunchtime when we came upon the Riverside. The Riverside is clean, has a friendly vibe, and offers better food and service than you might expect from a restaurant that has no close competitors. The folks we met there were chatty too, so we got lots of useful information and learned a good deal about local interests and lifestyles. We lingered over lunch and enjoyed the experience. The Riverside shifts to a restricted schedule during the off season. If in doubt, call ahead for opening hours.

Always great food and the way you want it . Hard working staff but usually have to call well ahead of time to make sure you can get your order.

We popped in for a late lunch and were thoroughly entertained by Andy. The seafood chowder was the best I had in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The burger was good and salads looked good too. I highly recommend this restaurant. Good music playlist.

Three couples for a Thanksgiving weekend dinner. Meal was well prepared and tasty. Service was good and low key. Well prepared and presented.

902-660-3090 - must add this to the list, a choice for people who do not want fast food nor pub food nor ok chinese. Huge surprise to find this delightful restaurant in this town. Lovely watercolors by local artist, guitar player - excellent food - went b
We stopped in not expecting the quality of food we were served. Between us we had the crab cakes, a salad, seafood chowder and their vegetarian lasagne. All were really excellent. Crab cakes are standard fare these days, but these were served with a really interesting & tasty relish/sauce on a bed of interesting greens. Chowder had a great mix of salmon, shrimp, lobster, celery and potato - it was also not overwhelmed by a thick sauce. Lasagne was far from being a lame copy of the meat-based original, it was a hearty meal in itself that anyone would enjoy whether they are vegetarians or not. We also had a craft beer from the local brewer, Triderâs, which put the finishing touch on a great meal. Service was excellent too, friendly, efficient and attentive. Canât go wrong eating here. The two star review below is very hard to believe is genuine...

Soups, salads and sandwiches are available here, with a daily special. I keep an eye on facebook to see what the specials are and head down there everytime there's something we'll like for dinner. Everything we've ordered so far has been delicious. My husband especially loves their chicken pesto wrap and the smoked meat sandwich (I find it a tad greasy/juicy/messy for my tastes, but expect it given it being smoked meat) Great addition to Amherst :) Closes too early ;)

Service was a bit slow, kitchen seemed to be backed up more than the number of guests would suggest. Was dissappointed that lobster rolls are only on the lunch menu. However, our dinners were quite satisfying so we returned on day 2. Fairly heavy fare, don't expect a healthy meal! Photo is lobster on ciabatta with rice and veg

Stopped in on the recommendation of a local. Fast pleasant service, reasonable prices, hot tea in a carafe, and it is obviously a local favorite. Will definitely go back.
