Find out what Cajun & Creole restaurants to try in Placencia. Once a sleepy fishing village, Placencia has emerged as an increasingly popular eco-destination on the Caribbean. For those who enjoy outdoor adventure, the Stann Creek region offers a host of activities: hiking through mountainous rain forests, kayaking, deep sea fishing, diving and exploring Mayan ruins. The peninsula boasts 16 miles of tranquil beaches, with a lagoon to the west and the Caribbean to the east and lots of peace and quiet in the middle. Tour guides and dive centers offer a variety of excursions, with boat rides to the outer cayes an ongoing favorite. Also popular are guided land tours to Mayan Ruins or trekking the jungle trails of Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, where the first Jaguar Reserve in the world was established.

My wife and I each got a burrito for lunch, she got the shrimp one and I got the fish one. Shrimp one had much more flavor. Neat place right on the beach front!

Popped into Omarâs while exploring the town. It had come so highly recommended that we thought weâd give it a try. The place is BYOB (meaning they donât serve alcohol) and thereâs no cork fees. Be sure to ask whatâs available before combing the menu as some dishes were out of season. Overall tasty food, but poor service as the employees were more concerned w their own down time than tending to us.
Where to eat Seafood food in Placencia: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Walking back in the middle of the day, we stopped right in front of Cobo's and decided to go in and ask what was still available. We left with some rice and beans, stewed chicken, a salad and fried platano/Maduro. Best meal I had in Placencia. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Go chat with Cobo, he's a cool guy and fantastic cook!
