Had room service prepared by Kem's and it was great. However our breakfast experience was less than positive. There appeared to be only one waitress serving breakfast. She had around five tables with customers. We waited for five minutes or so without service and left. The hotel manager on duty saw us leave and offered to intervene.

Here is the problem. An ordinary hamburger should not cost over $12. But all these restaurants think by calling them gourmet or specialty burgers that they can charge these outrageous prices. Ground patti and buds broiler have better tasting burgers than all these little places downtown. Or in any other city. You see thatâs where the disappointment comes in. For $15 hamburger with drink you expect to be wowed. But instead itâs like eh! Itâs ok but not $15 great. I love hamburgers but you have to kick it up a notch for me to go and spend that kind of money over and over again. This goes for a lot of places not just yours

An amazing end to our visit with my cousin was a dinner at Jacmel Inn. From the moment you walk in you feel comfortable. It is well appointed and super clean. This is a great place to unwind after a busy day or week. I started with a well made Sazerac. We were at Jacmel Inn on a Tuesday night so it was quiet. The service was very good along with our delicious meals. I had the veal Parm. It was one of a prefixed meal of the night along with a glass of wine for a really fair price. Our whole group was pleased with their choices.

Stopped in Hammond for the night while heading home from New Orleans. We'd asked a couple of people in Hammond for recommendations for seafood. One of them was Don's. It was convenient to our motel, so after reading reviews (4 stars) we tried it. We were seated near the bar, where it was very loud - we should have asked for a window seat. We had a very good server. She checked on us frequently and brought additional condiments as requested. The food was fairly good - just wasn't 'great' I had the fried catfish/shrimp. The shrimp were fried well and once I added some seafood seasoning (on the table) it was pretty good. I didn't eat the catfish after a couple of bites - it tasted 'fishy' - not that clean taste typical of 'farm raised' catfish. Even though we weren't going home until the next afternoon, I got a to go box and brought the catfish and fries home - my dogs loved it! If you go to Don's with someone and you want conversation, ask for a table away from the bar area.
