Excellent pastries and colorful ambiance surrounded by artful and creative decor. Friendly service and attention to customers.
Right across from the main plaza, this cute 3 table cafe/restaurant is a godsend for any vegetarian or vegan travellers in a small town where "sin carne" is incomprehensible or even an insult. With Om symbols/buddhas, homemade jars of peanut butter, and flyers advertising yoga classes and organic farming, it makes a gentle statement. Family-run by a calm older italian man who does all of the cooking, waitering, coffee-making, and cleaning, it captured our heart. The menu isn't extensive, as you can imagine, but for dinner or lunch you can get for 12 soles ($4), a vegetable soup, fruit water, choice of 3 veggie entrees (pizza, garbanzo bean burger or cage-free omelette), and dessert of 3 types of cake (the chocolate was delicious). The atmosphere was quiet and friendly, we could see people went there to have a cup of coffee and use wifi. Highly recommended!
Profits support Asociación Educativa Cultural El Arte Sano, which is nice. Enjoyed some great espresso (5 soles), the menu del dia (8 soles for a really great soup, chicken with rice in peanut sauce, and a small piece of flan), and the chicken sandwich with Andean cheese and fries (12 soles). Also had a slice of moka cake (5 soles) because it looked awesome, and it was very tasty. Very inexpensive and solidly good. Looked like they also had alcohol.

American style breakfast places are hard to find in Urubamba. We stumbled upon this place within a block of the main square. The place itself smelled a little musty but appeared clean. The orange juice was good, the coffee was hot and strong. They have a huge breakfast menu at great prices. I loved my eggs, potatoes, and bread- but didn't like the beans. Just a personal taste I think since everything else was good. Husband enjoyed his breakfast. Nothing will knock your socks off, but if you're looking for an easy, "typical"'breakfast outside of your hotel, this will fit the bill.

After a long day traveling, we wandered the very quiet streets of Urubamba on a quiet Monday night. Eventually, we decided on Cafe Plaza to eat. What a find! Wood fired pizza oven, serving beautiful pizzas at very reasonable prices. Mostly 10 to 20 soles. A quiet evening for this cute family run restaurant, we were starving and eveything was just perfect. Some of the best pizza I've ever had. And some great local food, the anticuchos were great. Also sells some great handmade pottery. Recommended for a feast after a long hike.
