The population was 6,457 at the 2010 census, a 5.9 percent increase from 6,098 at the 2000 census. It was named for the noted Shawnee chief, Tecumseh, and was designated as the county seat at Oklahoma's statehood. A county-wide election moved the seat to Shawnee in 1930.

I took my sister-in-law to lunch for her birthday and we both enjoyed our time therevery much. We had the spinach, strawberry, chicken salad. Very large portion and very tasty. And then we had two fantastic pieces of cake. I go carrot cake (Yum!) and she got chocolate chocolate cake (Yum!) and then we shared with each other and had enough to bring home for later. Everything I saw on other people's plates looked very appetizing. I would definitely go again. The country and farm decor was cool.

Benton's Cafe is a true throwback to the most wonderful mom and pop type cafe's of the 50's and 60's. Good food, great breakfast served anytime. Portion sizes leave you stuffed, and their homemade biscuits and gravy is to die for!

The food was OK but very overpriced and the portions were mockingly tiny. I was not impressed though I wanted to be, cool atmosphere and good staff but the there is no value in the menu.Sorry to hear you werenât satisfied. We work very hard to provide the freshest ingredients (all local) and responsibly raised proteins, which is reflected in our menu prices. Hopefully youâll come back and give us another try!

This is the BEST coffee shop in a 30 mile radius of Shawnee. The espresso is prefect and so is their tea lattes. I would suggest the Maple Spice Latte or their Turmeric Gold Latte for the brave souls! My friend has gotten their drip as well and says it is amazing.I love the atmosphere of the place as well. They kept all of the older feel of the original building. The Gathering Place also has a yoga studio and bakery inside of it! The baked goods are amazing; I recommend the cinnamon roll! If you are every in Shawnee and need amazing craft coffee then this is your place!

I reviewed this restaurant a while back and this is an update. The coffee drinks are still wonderful! The hot chocolate is delicious! This is my absolute favorite place to get coffee, and now they perfected it and get 5 stars because they changed some of the personnel. In my last review I mentioned that there were two employees who just didn't have a personality. They were never rude or anything, but just didn't belong in the service industry. WELL NOW there are I believe 3 ladies who are all wonderful, welcoming, friendly, and professional. I now love the coffee AND the service. Keep up the good work, ladies! You make my day every time I hit your drive-thru!
