Reviews on Cafe food in Taunton, England, United Kingdom. Taunton /ˈtɔːntən/ is a large regional town in Somerset, England. The town currently peaks at a population of 69,570 as of 2018. The town itself has over 1,000 years of religious and military history, including a monastery dating back to the 10th century and Taunton Castle, which has origins in the Anglo Saxon period and was later the site of a priory. The Normans then built a stone structured castle, which belonged to the Bishops of Winchester. The current heavily reconstructed buildings are the inner ward, which now houses the Museum of Somerset and the Somerset Military Museum.

This is a delightful venue with a shop downstairs and eatery above. There are is a wide choice of dishes from light to substantial which would suit most tastes. I chose the mixed platter which included artichokes and olives and my husband chose some cheese; both were delicious.

We are frequent visitors here, as the service is always friendly, a lovely setting and food tasty and great value. We all had Ploughmanâs and they were excellent as always, with huge amounts of cheese. Also lovely coffee and gorgeous homemade cakes. A must visit if you find yourself in this area.

I bought an afternoon tea for 2 from Groupon for my husband and myself as a treat. The food was absolutely lovely and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend going to Bumbles. We actually live in the village but this is our favourite place for coffee and cake, and the breakfast is amazing. Proper bacon and sausages unlike a lot of places where it's just cheap produce. The staff are lovely as well and so friendly with our kids. Definitly recommended for any occasion.

Went for lunch with friends and chose the long board with sausage roll.Oh no........... the recipe has been changed and the fabulous apple and sage sausage roll is no more.To be blunt it wasnât up to the Scrumpers standard.Restaurant was busy for a Saturday lunchtime and service a little slow .

We visited here on 19 April. This is a gem of a place that never fails to deliver good quality food. On this occasion we had take away salad boxes - so much better than the supermarket. This is not just any sandwich bar - it is the best sandwich bar. Try it - you wonât be disappointed.

Took our friends here who were visiting from Belgium as really wanted to take them for a cream tea . I reserved a table for 6 as the Taunton flower show was on so thought it best to book a table. We ordered 5 cream teas and one friend had a sandwich , I asked for an extra two scones as wasn't sure of the size of them , wow don't think I needed too as they were pretty big and pretty filling although we didn't let them go to waste . My friends from Belgium really enjoyed the visit,they loved the porcelain tea cups and tea pot etc ...all in all a great experience again .

Rumwell has been part of our lives for many years and we enjoy visiting the cafe where the service is always smiling and the food unfailingly of a high quality. We had never been for the Sunday carvery before today - we have been missing out. A choice of two excellent meats from a selection of beef, turkey or pork, then you can help yourself to an excellent selection of vegetables and sauces. So nice to have the freedom to choose what you like and not face supplements, as is the case in some pubs, for dishes like cauliflower cheese.Other dishes are on the menus, starters too and desserts, cakes, coffee, whatever you wish.A good idea to book, we hadnât and were lucky today but this is a popular place and deservingly so.Thank you for this lovely review, we're very pleased that you enjoyed our carvery and especially the cauliflower cheese!
