After a long journey we called in for a coffee which wasn't good. The staff look very unhappy, no eye contact and curt. Manager shouts excuse me as he rushes around. Not the welcome we hoped for. Toilets behind not the best but they could be public toilets? No toilet paper anyway. You've got to be desperate.

As a coeliac I am always looking for places to eat good gluten free food. My first experience of Griffins Yard two week's ago was good. I enjoyed delicious gluten free soup served with sliced bread. However, yesterday was very different and disappointing as the soup described as chunky vegetable was like dish water with a few thinly cut vegetables floating in it and oil poured on the top. We tried adding salt to make it palatable but it was so horrible that I could not eat any of it. The cakes looked lovely but unfortunately, the only gluten free cake was a boring brownie (the gluten free do get sick of brownies being the only thing we can have). We did tell the waitress about the soup who had not commented when she collected the uneaten soup, but she just said 'sorry about that' no offer of a refund. I will be looking for another place to eat in South Molton and won't be returning to Griffin's Yard.

Called in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Quirky and comfortable seating areas and a good choice of lunches using locally sourced ingredients'. We ordered paninis and they were cooked to order with substantial fillings and served with a freshly prepared salad with a tasty dressing, a delicious local chutney and crisps. A struggle to finish but too good to leave!!! Friendly staff and well worth a visit.
