Afternoon Tea at Tankardstown

The Tea Garden is a quaint, lop-sided cottage, with odd tables and mismatched china, no pomp and circumstance here just an atmospheric relaxed area for some good old fashioned Afternoon Tea and a chat. Gluten Free and Vegetarian options available. Please

Tankardstown is the historic home of the Blackburne sub Townshend families. It is a late Georgian house with and extensive range of farm buldings.the farm building have been converted into a range of different restaurants. We booked for afternoon tea. not knowing our way around we parked in the wrong car park. Went to the wrong front door- and were gently directed to the teahouse. It is a lovely warm place with exposed brick and stone. although there is a range of teas on the menu the staff did not ask which tea we wanted. Otherwise service was pleasant and not overbearing- just the way we like it.sandwiches were very nice but would have benefitted from having the crusts removed.Scones were neat, tasty and fresh- but we felt the jam did not taste home made. The cakes were good, with a great range of flavours.Altogether a good experience.P.S. we would have preferred pastoral classical music to compliment the food.Dear Vincent,Thank you for your review, and for recently visiting The Tea Garden at Tankardstown. I am glad you enjoyed your experience with us and we appreciate your comments and feedback. I hope we can welcome you back in the near future.Kindest regards,Gary Britton

Visited here with family recently and were delighted with the wide choice of food on the menu, and the prices were very good value for money too. When our food arrived the portions were generous and everyone was impressed with the quality of the food. The staff were really lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Really enjoyable experience. Will recommend to friends, and be back to visit again.

Have eaten here many times for lunch with my mam, partner or friends. Food is always amazing and when I know I am going I look forward to it all day.You can book a table for lunch which I would recommend but I have never been turned away if i did not have a booking. The other problem for me is deciding what to choose to eat because everything is so tasty!
