Things to do in Rauma
We had been visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Samallahdenmäki in the former municipality of Lappi, now part of the town of Rauma, whose center is still about 20km away. Just on the road after the village we found this little eating place with a big parking area. It was just the right time for us to go for a small lunch. We entered the wooden building, painted over in dark blue, in accordance with the name of the place: 'Sininen Tupa', which translates as 'Blue Parlor'.A friendly lady told us that we can chose what we want from the salad buffet and also from the warm dishes. On offer was a vegetable dish and 'Pyttipannu', a kind of hash with potatoes, onions, chopped meat, fried eggs and pickled beetroot, which is popular all over Scandinavia (in fact the word comes from the Swedish 'Pyttipanna', which means 'small pieces in a pan').There was free water and coffee with it and all for just ⬠8. It is a simple, modest place, but clean and it was just right for our lunch break on the road to Rauma. They are open on weekdays from 5am to 4pm and judging from the big parking area, which was empty though during our visit, they probably work a lot with truck drivers.
It's really important that the library has it own cafeteria. You can came here to lend books, read a newspaper or listen some music. And after this you just go to the cafeteria to get some cafee and sweet buns. This is also a good place to meet people.
Cozy little Cafe in heart of Old Rauma. You can enjoy homemade donuts and pastries with your coffee. During summer time you can sit outside in the sunny terrace and drink your coffee. From the shop you can buy souvenirs and Robin Ruth articles.
