Reviews on Cafe food in Quito, Pichincha Province, Ecuador. With a rich pre-Colombian history, Ecuador's capital was founded on the ruins of an Incan city but offers everything a modern traveler might need. It remains the least-altered historic center in Latin America and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Quito’s important sites include baroque gems like San Francisco and Santo Domingo monasteries, as well as La Compañía church and college. This huge city sprawls across a breathtaking Andean valley surrounded by volcanic peaks.

We really enjoyed the soups served here, nice staff and very nice atmosphere. Even though they have a great choice of burgers and salads they still serve some Ecuadorian specialties! Very much recommended!!

It's hard to believe there has been no review of this restaurant for over five years. Located to the left side of San Francisco church within the plaza square, this restaurant has seating tables with umbrellas. We stayed in because the weather was debating whether to rain or the sun peeking. The ambiance is truly authentic. Since we are a group, we placed our orders before we got there. Our guide called in our order. We had soup with palmetto heart, creamy potato, and main course of truchas, chicken or salad. Their coffee was aromatic, juices were fresh and a couple of desserts that I did not try. Our group was happy. Next door is their gift shop that sells some souvenirs and local chocolate. TA asks if wheelchair will fit and well, yeah but even though doors are wide, floors are not evenly surfaced and bathroom is tight.

Hot cocoa was rich and nicely flavored, with a very generous portion. Food was lacking in flavor and texture. Per the waitress's recommendation, I ordered the green fried plaintain dumplings with peanut sauce. Sauce was green and did not taste of peanuts, and dumplings were mushy without a crunchy crust. After reading TA reviews, tried to sign up for a truffle-making class, but was told that they do not have any planned for the near future. Most of the good reviews here seem to reflect that class, rather than the experience at the cafe.
