I met a two colleagues at Bean Scene this morning. One turned up about 30min late. We had a bit of paperwork to fill out. The manager then came to my table very indignantly and asked if there would be anyone else joining me. When I lefy I asked what he meant by that he replied that he just wanted to know, not that it was any of his business. I advised him that I didn't appreciate his approach. He then just walked away! Will never go to Bean Scene again due to the attitude of its management. The waitress was very pleasant though!

My husband and I were in the Hayfields area doing shopping and decided on a stop at this cafe. It is a very pleasant shop with outside seats for smokers. The menu is varied and as it was mid-morning we decided on coffee and a muffin as a snack. The venue was fairly busy. It is situated in the Hayfields Shopping Mall so very convenient after a busy morning shopping. A good place for lunch too.

They have a menu with a great variety of meals, both light and more substantial, as well as a buffet which they lay out with a good choice of foods which are different to those on the menu. They also have all day breakfasts for those who love their breakfasts. and also a great variety of desserts as well as many interesting teas and tonics. The chicken burger is simply amazing, and they serve a mouth watering garlic mayonnaise as a dip/sauce.The honey glazed bacon is also an amazing extra to add to you dish.

This is a great café for a cup of coffee, a savoury muffin, and if you are on your own, to read the morning paper, or a magazine. The members of staff are friendly and obliging. The menu is short, changes regularly, and is written on a blackboard at the entrance. The options are varied, and there is something for every taste, with hot and cold options. The café is located on the first floor of the Tatham Art Gallery, entrance to which is free. The muffin selection is good, and they all delicious.

The manager/owner is the challenge here. The waitrons are doing a good job, but when the manager sits in the one corner constantly barking orders to staff, it is not conducive to a quiet meal/drink. It would be great to see him involve himself in the running of the restaurant.
