This is a very small, cosy restaurant run by two sisters. Everything they serve is delicious, the best muffins, salads, quiche on occasion, ginger tea. The problem is that it only has seating for about 12 people, including one big table for 6, and they only accept reservations on the morning after 10. For sure if you ring at 10.02, it will be full. Well worth trying for though. They close at 6.00pm, so it is lunch only or afternoon drinks, muffins.

Had lunch here after our tour of Yamazaki. Great comfort food and just across the station. A need rest stop with great food. Three dishes for under 2500 yen. What a find.

After a visit to the Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art (in rural Kyoto) we took the museum shuttle bus back to the Hankyu Oyamazaki Station and saw this cafe right beside the station, but tucked just out of sight from the station exit. Go out the exit, turn left, pass the big local area map and there it is. Ready for a lunch break, we headed in. The atmosphere is light, bright and welcoming; the seating is comfortable; the staff is friendly and helpful and the menu is interesting and varied. The chef was very willing to modify our entrees because we are vegetarian; the flexibility was refreshing. We had salads and pastas followed by cappuccinos - all delicious. We did not have dessert, but the ones we saw looked awesome. Check out the dessert case you will pass on your way in. Good as they desserts look there, the presentation on the plate is even more spectacular. You might decide to skip the main course entirely and go right to dessert. There is an outdoor patio, but it was not in use the day we were there due to the chilly temperature. Indoor seating is on two levels - different styles on each floor; one or the other is sure to please. We found this cafe purely by accident while on a day trip to the nearby art museum. It is a little far from our home, but we are thinking about making a return trip to Oyamazaki, just to eat here again. From central Kyoto it would be a much shorter trip - and well worth the train ride.

The cafe is located on the second floor of the very fine museum. The menu is very small, limited to cakes, coffee, and juices, but everything was tasty. The view from the outside terrace is a delight, and the cafe offers a nice place to have a sit and a modest bit of sustenance between Monets.
