Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Nouakchott. The Saharan city of Nouakchott was a small fishing village until 1957, when Mauritania attained independence. The new capital city of a young country, Nouakchott has changed quite a bit since the Sixties, with mosques, government buildings, and street markets rising up out of the desert sand. Spread out over land that constantly being encroached upon by massive dunes, and inhabited by a nomadic people that don't keep their tents pitched in one place for very long, the city is always in flux.
Things to do in Nouakchott
I did not want to change any local money as was just staying two days, so was eating both days on this restaurant as was able to charge to my room bill. The selection is not massive but the food was good and it was resonable priced. I had a pizza and the size was quite big, bigger than I was able to eat. Service was very nice and the place was not busy. If you stay here, they also deliver the food to room so you don't need to eat downstairs.
This is a great place to have breakfast, lunch, or a coffee. The owner, Rita, is pleased to offer special orders for those who may have dietary restrictions such as vegetarian options. The menu consists of several different sandwiches that you cannot find elsewhere in Nouakchott. They also offer ice cream and beverages that are shipped in from Spain. Speciality drinks like the fruit smoothie or frappés are deliciously refreshing in the heat of Nouakchott.Thank you for the review and we are happy you had a pleasant experience...
