I stopped in here for lunch and had a really nice lunch. I had the sandwich and soup deal which was a Ham Sandwich with Tomato & Basil Soup for £6.95 which was absolutely lovely. This is a lovely cafe with a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and polite and I would definitely come here again.

We were booked for a house tour at 1.00 p.m., needing to be there for 12.50 p.m., so thought that we should have something to eat first. You need to find a table and then go and place your order. How does this work if you are on your own. In our case hubby sat while I ordered. There was a queue, which seemed to take forever for us to get to the front of. We ordered a sandwich each, which came with a few crisps, a spoonful of coleslaw and supposedly a side salad. The salad consisted of leaves, well past their best before date, the tiniest tomato I have ever seen cut in half and a minute piece of cucumber. At £5.99, not really good value. The staff were pleasant enough.Later, we went back for an ice cream and were served reasonably quickly, although the member of staff had to go outside and in to behind the main serving area if she was serving someone without the correct change.Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, Linda. We apologise that you didn't have a good experience in the cafe last week. We always try to provide the highest level of service and food quality and your feedback is invaluable. Unfortunately, though not an excuse, the date of your visit was uncharacteristically busy so our staffing levels were not reflective of the kind of day that we anticipated. Once again, thank you again for your comments and we hope that you do visit Scampston again in the future.

called for breakfast but then saw the ploughmans and thought I would go for that. My friend had the jacket potatoe and cheese salad. Both were plentiful and enjoyed. Lots of cheeses on mine and a whole baguette, which was warm with plenty of butter pats. Onions and pickles alongside coleslaw were accompaniments to the meal. I would most certainly call back for the ploughmans again.Lots of old china on the windowsill and it is all for sale, bit pricey though! Vintage theme place which adds to its charm. Two sections to sit in, we sat in the rear as no one in there but it very quickly filled up. Seems to be a popular place.Service and food both good

We are a small business striving for big values. We bake and cook all our own food and cakes. We serve hot breakfast's all day, hot toasties, jacket potatoes, warm salad, spicy curries, chili nacho's daily homemade soup of the day, with ingredients source
We called in on a cold wet day and really enjoyed our hot soup and delicious homemade cheese scones. We were made very welcome and even got a few samples of cake to go with the cake we ordered - thank you. Well recommended as a place to eat and also for the variety of community activities which take place there.Thank you for your lovely comment, I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and the weather improved for you all.

Very disappointed in this cafe, we have been a few times in the past few years but our visit last week was awful. However, I would congratulate the woman who served us who I believe was new as the rest of the staff seemed to be taking it easy and letting her do all the work. Our meals were quite nice when delivered but I asked for a childâs sandwich without all the trimmings and that is what arrived but I was charged in full for an adult sandwich with all the trimmings. Not good! We wonât be bothering going there again.

My partner and my dog was attacked by the owners dog after this I would never visit this place again. The owners warned us to put out dogs on leads as there dogs would get out and could attack ours if theyâre were running around after following these instructions and securing our dog to the picnic bench we still got attacked. My kids were left in tears worrying about their mum and the family pet and my partner ended up in a&e for a tetanus jab. My 11 year old son was sitting right next to my partner when this happened it could have easily been his leg or arm rather than my partner. If you are visiting this place with a dog I would think twice as obviously the owners have no control over their dog and canât make sure they are secure.

This cafe came up on a tripadvisor search engine for gluten free Breakfast places. Unfortunately it was not a good choice. We were told there was no gluten free bread or options after explaining two of our party were coeliac. Nevertheless my friends manfully ordered what they could from their breakfast menu telling the waitress no toast, sausage etc. The waitress repeated the order and all seemed plain but proceeded to bring one of the meals with fried bread. When told she couldn't eat that they took it away and removed the bread leaving behind small pieces under the other items. This would have made my niece very ill so I returned the meal asking for a replacement and was told we should have said when we ordered it! We had only said no toast??? I suggest that the cook and waiting staff require more training with regard to food allergies and the fact that toast, bread and fried bread all contain gluten which I assumed would be blindingly obvious in this day and age.

Come along to Captain Barneyâs where children can let off steam in our fantastic soft play area, which includes a ball pool, slide, nets, ropes, and ladders! though older children may like to join in to ;). Play as long as you like but also try our select
This place is in the market town of malton and is a small soft play area with space to eat and drink and relax whilst the children play. It is well presented and clean with a modern decor. The actual soft play area is down stairs but is accessible from the eating area and is spotless. The quality of the food and drink on offer is excellent with the portion size very generous and very good value for money. The staff are very friendly and caring towards both you and your children which is something I appreciate as a parent of a child with additional needs as the way he is seen reflects on our enjoyment of a place and whether we will return back to anywhere. There are bathroom facilities bit down stairs within the soft play area and up stairs as well as a disabled facility. The hygiene of captain barney is outstanding as well. Additionally there are no hidden costs within captain barney such as vending machines, grab machines ect you find at other places which means that the children are not distracted and can just play. I definitely will be returning again
