The Lenexa Community Center is in the midst of a building boom. I'm excited about having more restaurants and shops on this side of town. It's also the future site of the Lenexa Public Library. The Public Market is located just below the City Hall. Getting to it from the parking garage without taking steps is a little tricky.I had heard about this place from a couple people and decided to try it out. The atmosphere was good, but the Public Market in itself appears to be in the early stages of something good. There are a few eating places: Topp'd (pizza, salad and grinders), Madman's (BBQ, Chili Dogs, tacos and the most important--Nitrogen frozen ice cream), Chewology (dumplings, noodles rice), The Roasterie Café and a couple local vendors selling tamales, baked goods and gifts. The Cons are that the place does seem to not be filling its full potential of having more vendors. Some of the food prices are higher than I would pay on a regular basis.Service at Topp'd on Sunday was a little....disinterested, shall we say?THe Pros: I love the sunny, laidback atmosphere. There are games on the tables, encouraging you to hang out while you eat or have coffee. When the weather gets warmer, the outside tables will get full use. Yes, you can get alcohol. There was a sign for a winery, but I was not sure if they were part of Chewology, or a ghost vendor. They were advertising Happy Hour, so I'm sure they exist, but I could not see them or know how to order. Nitrogen frozen ice cream is fun to watch and fast. Coffee-Nutella flavor--Yum.I fully support this new endeavor. Part of me will mourn the available space when it gets more popular. The other part wants to see more stores and to get closer to the Public Market in Philadelphia which is much bigger, but hopping with different food vendors including fresh meats and produce. What would I wish this space had more of? Can the upstairs space do cooking demos more often?More vendors: I felt a little bad for the two local outfits who did not have as fancy displays or signs. The Bakery was outshone by the baked goods display at The Roasterie.Fresh Flower/Fresh fruit market would be lovely. Maybe a Doughnut Place. A hot Dog stand (one of those rolling carts that could move and not have to have a permanent sign or corner). Maybe offer some food truck vendors a couple rotating spaces so we can have more variety--Mexican, Thai, Mediterranean, etc.Try it out. Support Lenexa!

This cheery welcome will greet you and draw you into a lovely, pleasant, terrific start to your day! Santa Fe is my favorite KC restaurant...yes, over all other restaurants! But a great breakfast is my favorite way to start off vacation days...trust me, start here. Unfailingly obliging, even on heavy traffic Sundays (you can call ahead), they do it your way! The daughter was doing a keto-type diet and was substituting berries for carbs...they didn't even blink, just got it right. Order however you want it--and we occasionally get pretty creative -- they will ask and write and bring your food, AND time the coffee warmup to perfection! We've been starting our KC vacation days here for three years, and no matter what side of the bed we got out on, they have made us smile with good coffee, BEST BREAKFAST, excellent service, good prices, variety of choices--they do a great lunch, too--and a gentle, friendly, well-trained, quick-moving staff. I was bacon-hungry this trip and I was impressed by the generous amounts of bacon in the omelettes and, my favorite, a bacon skillet--perfectly done runny eggs! Can't praise these folk enough...you will be surrounded by well-satisfied regulars, some garulous, some quiet, but always friendly. There should be a starred, red circle on your map or navigation tool telling you to "START HERE". ENJOY!

Ate lunch at Panera yesterday after shopping at Oak Park Mall. The restaurant was tastefully decorated. They have soups sandwiches, pastries bagels, breads and more. I had a ham and Swiss sandwich with a bowl of French onion soup. It was very good. The service was quick and friendly. We will be back.
