Reviews on Cafe food in La Jolla, San Diego, California. Topnotch golf courses, art galleries and seals share the dramatic oceanside landscape of La Jolla, an affluent community 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. Swimmers, snorkelers and kayakers dip into La Jolla Cove, where the protected waters shield an abundance of bright orange Garibaldi fish and sea caves indent the cliffs. The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the family-friendly Birch Aquarium and the acclaimed La Jolla Playhouse deliver breaks from the sun.

Café la Rue translates to "the street," and in La Jolla all streets lead to La Valencia Hotel and her chic, casual bistro designed as a European brasserie perfect for people watching. The eatery's natural light and airy art deco-inspired ambiance is accen
Just had dinner for birthday and was utterly disappointed. Food is mediocre: vegetable dip was a block of cream cheese with lettuce as garnish, ordered strozapreti pasta with wild mushroom, hazelnut, arugula and lemon zest with brown butter sauce and got pasta with what looked like canned button mushroom slices and a few slices of almonds in wine sauce. I asked the waiter if it is the right dish and he said yes the mushroom are white not wild, the menu said hazelnut but it is wrong and the chef does not like arugula so he did not put any. Seriously?Dear Catherine,I am so sorry to hear that your recent dining experience at Cafe la Rue wasn't to your (or our) expectations. We very rarely deviate from our recipes, so please know that your comments have been taken to our culinary team for further review and action. I hope you will offer us another opportunity to exceed all expectations in the future. Kind Regards,Melissa King, Marketing Manager

Went here for lunch as our first stop after getting off of our cross-country flight. Our family (me, spouse, two 17 yo boys, 11 yo girl) all had tasty sandwiches with fresh ingredients, while sitting out on the patio under an umbrella looking out at the beautiful landscape. No fliers that day, but plenty to look at.Among us we had the Turkey California, the Roast Beef La Jolla, the Roast Beef Southwest and the Chicken Acapulco Wind. My son traded his Turkey for the Chicken sandwich because he much preferred the French bread (the Aculpulco and the RB Southwest are the only ones served on the French bread), but everyone ate well.It was windy and cool the day we were there, but we loved the fresh air after being cooped up in a plane for several hours. There is no protected seating (beyond umbrellas) so I'd avoid it on a chilly or rainy day. And as noted in other reviews, only porta-potties.

Warm and friendly cafe serving breakfast, lunch and complete service of coffee drinks. I came her both for breakfast (omelette) and lunch (salad). Both meals were delicious. The owners are warm and friendly and want to be sure you are happy with your meal.

From the coffee to the eggs, and especially the rosemary potatoes, the Coffee Cup remains the best breakfast value in La Jolla. It's worth the wait outside to get in for their delicious menu! I come here for brunch whenever I'm in La Jolla, and am never disappointed!

Home of Food Network Champion Chef Maeve, Sugar & Scribe is a quintessential La Jolla hangout. Inspired by the classic bakeries of the world, the design is at once sophisticated and relaxed. The space includes sit-down dining, bakery counter, coffee bar a
Our usual, The Cottage, was super slammed so we crossed the street and took a number here. A little more of an uppity air to this place at the host stand, but we gave it a shot and the food redeemed the place. Fresh, tasty brunch and bright, airy seating, despite the crowd.

Carolineâs Seaside Café by Giuseppe is a beach front restaurant located on the UCSD Scripps Institute of Oceanography campus in the Seaside Forum with full ocean views, serving healthy and creative California style dishes with a focus on organic and susta
My family went to Carolineâs for Sunday brunch, and we all enjoyed our meals - the Mediterranean Scramble, smoked salmon bagel, and blueberry pancakes. Took a little while to be served due to the large number of people in the restaurant, but we were seated at a table that gave us a great view of the ocean while we waited. We were visiting our daughter and her boyfriend, and we went their on her recommendation. Carolineâs is very close to the UCSD campus and she enjoys going there when she can. We will be going back to Carolineâs on future visits!

Wow...that's what you call a breakfast. Plenty and very very tasteful. Way too much but the remains take away and enjoy during lunch ;-) Reasonably priced. Waitress was great, the person walking around with the coffee pot was somewhat annoyed. You don't have to smile all day but a grumpy face? Other than that worthwhile the treat.Hi there,We've reached out to you in a private message to personally thank you for this review. We hope we have the chance to serve you again in the future!

Food was good. Average, nothing amazing. Service was ok, food took a long time to come out. If you're hungry...you'll be hungry for awhile after you sit down. Staff was friendly. Can walk here from La Jolla Shores which makes it easy for a beach day.

We had to wait for a table because this place is popular! It was well worth the wait. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Staff was attentive and quick. The only negative is that we wanted to sit on the patio instead we were seated upstairs next to the bathroom. Not exactly the view I would have liked to have had. At least there were plenty of windows to look out of.
