A small, relaxed, informal European style cafe bar. Serves a fabulous selection of Gins, Cocktails, Platters with continental meats and cheeses and vegetarian specialties, Bombay Street food, locally roasted fine coffee and incredible cakes.
Have visited Slate a few times and staff are helpful and friendly. We have been able to reserve seats on occasions. Friday nights are good for the free nibbles. Unfortunately the toilets let the place down and have mentioned this to the staff. But overall a good bar to visit when in town.

Cafe-Bar in the heart of Kendal, serving locally sourced home made food - famed for our pulled pork & homemade BBQ sauce, slow cooked beef chilli, soups & breads, home roasted meats, and of course Karen's famous cakes.
This is a really enticing looking cafe in Kendal town center. The local market was on and we decided to call in for drinks and cake for a break. Karen's chocolate & beetroot cake was one of the nicest we have ever had, absolutely delicious and so moist.Good coffee (latte) and, what I assumed was the owner, was a very welcoming and friendly chap.

We are a family run vegetarian and vegan cafe offering delicious food at edible prices in a pleasant riverside setting just a few minutes walk from the town centre and just off the A6. We offer vegan, wheat and gluten free options freshly prepared on prem
Todayâs Thai cuisine was absolutely delicious. The vegan menu, prepared by expert chef Helen Pateman, was outstanding. Mixed starter platter was a meal in itself and was followed by some excellent, crispy aubergine with rice and noodles. To finish, I had banana fritters with ice cream - scrumptious! The food was prepared with great care and skill and was beautifully presented. The quantities were huge - diners certainly didnât leave hungry! Itâs dog friendly here too.Waterside is set next to the beautiful River Kent, yet right in the heart of picturesque Kendal. Highly recommended.HiThank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again as we will keep having our evening special nights :)All the bestMagda and the team x

Spanish-inpsired cafe/ restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch. Tapas, sandwiches & soups, freshly baked cakes & pastries. Atkinson coffee and loose teas Spanish wines, gins & craft beers Sit-in or takeaway.
Came here a few weekends ago with my friends for a late breakfast/early lunch. On arrival there was no âhelloâ or acknowledgment from the members of staff so we seated ourselves. The menu seemed a little bit confusing but we soon worked things out and decided what weâd like to eat. It took a while for someone to take our order, even though the restaurant didnât seem overly busy, though the waiter who did come to our table eventually was lovely. The food arrived and we couldnât fault it, I would recommend the pancakes they were amazing! When our plates were cleared the waitress didnât offer a smile or asked if everything was okay with our food and it took us a while again to be acknowledged when we wanted to pay and once leaving no âThank youâ or âGoodbyeâ was given. Amazing food, not the best service.

Coffee shop, sandwich bar and Deli with tables to sit in or takeaway. Additional seating is available in the Canteen located a little further down the yard.
Fantastic cafe restaurant with delicious food. It was a struggle to choose as everything looked delicious. We had cauliflower frittata & three salads all were tasty and moorish! We managed to find room to share a lemon shortbread which was amazing too. Highly recommend this place. Behind beales store, dog friendly too.

Traditional cafe
Do you need gluten-free? This is the place for you. Practically the whole menu is gf. Take the pies, for instance: so good that non-gf diners compliment the pastry, without being aware that it is gf. And the cakes... The cooking is excellent, the quantity is plentiful, and the service is friendly and swift.Just - go there.

Charming courtyard cafe, oozing with historic character, serving a modern light cafe menu. You can catch Yard46 at The Factory Tap serving sourdough pizza on Tuesday evenings too ;)
Visit Kendal with my wife on a sunny weekend, and had a lunch! I would recommend this place as its lovely food and service is how it should be! The owner came to our table and ask if everything was okay, our answer was YES! So if you're in Kendal and want a good not average lunch, go to Yard 46,and you will definitely NOT disappointed!

Turkish inspired cafe serving hot and cold food, meze, cakes fabulous coffees and teas, wine, beer and soft drinks. Most meals also available for takeaway.
So glad we stopped by for lunch after reading the reviews on here. We received a warm and friendly greeting, in fact all the staff were charming. All the food looked fresh and delicious and we had a hard time deciding what to eat. Eventually we chose the soup of the day and a borek. Huge bowl of soup with excellent sourdough bread. The borek was very tasty too. Coffee and mint tea very good.We will definitely find an excuse to return soon.
