I had to travel to Jonkoping for a conference, and as a vegan, I was a little concerned about where I'd find food in this sleepy little town. Fortunately, Happy Cow pointed me to this place, and now I want to get the word out about it! The food here is absolutely fabulous, and the portions are very generous, so if you walk away hungry from this place, you have a bigger appetite than me, and I don't know that's possible! You have two options here: you can order ala carte, or you can do the buffet. As I ate here three times in three days, I tried both options and was not disappointed. The sandwiches are stuffed to the gills with excellent vegan fillings. I had a carbonara sandwich on focaccia, which was sort of like a smoked vegan ham and vegan cheese sandwich that was toasted in lovely, buttery vegan bread. I also had a curry "chicken" sandwich on a whole grain roll that was very delicious and filling. The buffet changes its main course from day to day. Tuesdays and Thursdays, it has soups (the one day I was there, it was a goulash), Wednesdays, there is a tomato casserole of sorts that is incredibly delicious and satisfying, and Fridays, there is a taco bar. They are open other days, but this was al, I could remember. In addition to the main course, the buffet offers pesto potatoes, hummus, tortilla chips, salad, cookies, breads, vegan butter, and some other goodies that escape me. It was delicious, all you can eat, and inexpensive. My carnivore boyfriend at twice with me there and loved it, too, so it's a great place for anyone. He particularly loved their desserts, which are phenomenal. The days I went, there was a hazelnut pie that was not unlike pecan pie, rhubarb pie, chocolate nut balls, and more. The pies are served with vegan whipped cream and home made raspberry sauce if you want it. I am salivating just thinking back on it.The restaurant has a very cozy, laid back feeling, and the decor is very tasteful. The seats are all comfortable and roomy, too. At the front of the restaurant are vegan goodies to take away and prepare or eat later - hot dogs, chocolate bars, cheeses, etc., so, if you have a kitchen where you are staying, you can fill up for later, too.I wish they had places like this in every city, but since they don't, make sure you hit this one up when you go to Jonkoping!
the view is nice. but that is about it. very tired place, we got 2 tasteless (and very poor) salads for a high price compared to what was served. also one out of two glasses were dirty. it would have potential as it is a nice view and garden. but you can stop for the view not the food.

This restaurant was recommend to us by staff at the Husqvarna Museum (about 1km away) when we asked them to suggest a "cheap and cheerful" place for lunch. Kroatorpet is indeed cheap and cheerful, with a nice spot overlooking Lake Vättern (and the motorway). Lunch was 89 SEK and was prepared to order and included coffee and a simple dessert. The only vegetarian item available was the Greek salad, which was an interesting interpretation of the classic! Lots of delicious feta, but also corn and celery! No matter what it was called, it was tasty enough and quite a large serving. Order and pay at the counter and the staff will bring food to your table. Overall, this is a good spot for budget conscious travelers already in Huskvarna but not a destination in itself.

Great cafe; best hot chocolate ever on a rainy summers day. Can get busy, dogs welcome in the garden and gammelhuset.
