Reviews on Cafe food in Funchal, Madeira Islands, Portugal. Funchal, the capital of the Madeira archipelago, was declared a city in the 1500s, and became an important point between the old and new worlds. The laid-back city owes much of its historical prominence to "white gold," Madeiran sugar. Today Funchal is known for its appealing temperatures, wine and crafts. Top spots to visit include the open Worker's Market, Blandy's Wine Lodge and the Sacred Art Museum. Friendly locals, walkable streets and cheap taxis make the city easy to get around.

We arrived in Madeira on an evening flight and needed a light meal not too far from our hotel. Maltez was a real find - pleasant location on the promenade, very friendly service, good food with generous portions, and great value. We returned several times for lunchtime snacks or afternoon/evening drinks.I'm giving them a "5" rating - not for any luxury or fancy food, but because the guys running it know what they are doing and do it so well.

Stopped at this nice little place for a cup of coffee but ended up having a smoothie as well. Ordered the Red Berry and the Super Mango. Nice texture and very fresh. Our server brought us a shot of a different smoothie while we waited for ours, very attentive. Will definitely come back to try something else to drink and snack. So nice to hear from you. Thank you so much for the review. Please come back more often for more different flavour smoothies and juices. Don´t forget to visit us at the Madeira mall also. Thanks again.

Visited for a lunchtime snack, following a walk down from the Ecological Park, before continuing our walk down the valley into Funchal. Sat outside on the terrace with nice views of the valley. Service was quick, polite and efficient. We had coffees - Chineses, that came with an additional jug of hot milk, which made for a longer drink. In addition we had garlic bread with cheese - like a mini pizza, and some chips - both were well cooked. The prices were very reasonable considering it is quite a tourist spot. Overall a nice cafe for a snack, in an excellent position and would recommend if up at Monte.

Located on the Levada dos Tornos between Curral dos romeiros and Camacha (Second tea house). This small Tea house serves English cakes, a selection teas, and coffees, and a selection light snacks and lunches for you to enjoy either in our garden or tea ho
My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Madeira and this afternoon - together with 3 other visitors - went on the excellent âPalheiro Gardens (see separate Review) and Levada Walk Tour organised by Blandy Travel. At the end of the relatively short Levada Walk, we descended a rather steep but well protected path to the Jasmin Tea House. Besides the resident cat & dog we were the only patrons and chose a nice table in the outside area. We were promptly served and my wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed our Cappuccinos and generous slices of Apple and Coffee Cake.Everything was reasonably priced and the decor is most welcoming. As such, I would have no difficulty in recommending the Jasmine Tea House to other visitors provided, of course, they can find the property as it is rather off the beaten track!Thank you for your review, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your walk to us, and had a lovely time with us. We hope that you will be able to revisit us next time you are here on Madeira. So that you might find it easier next time we do have a direct bus service from Funchal, the number 47, that leaves from the seafront near the cable car and stops at the entrance to our tea house. We are on the Levada dos tournos between Monte, and Camacha. If you need any other assistance, you can find a map and contact details on Tripadvisor or Facebook.Nick

This is a quirky and hip burger place which provides very good food at reasonable prices. There were not a lot of tourists when we ate there but a lot of locals. We couldnât get a table outside but it was interesting to eat inside as it has some great drawings on the walls and the decoration was different from the norm. The burgers were tender and juicy and the chips were very good indeed. In some dishes the burgers do not come on buns but that didnât limit our enjoyment of them. However, if you like your burger in a bun, it is worth checking when you order. I also had lime mousse to follow which was tart and sweet at the same time. A great palate cleanser. The service was good even though they were very busy and it is also great value. A definite if you like a good burger and chips.
