As we entered the Bella De jour Restaurant located in the Antiques Corner in Parys, the smell of brewing coffee was enough to get us settled down quickly. The French deco was outstanding, one would think one is in Paris. The menu was delightfully filled with all things nice, the cakes on display were exceptionally mouth water. I noticed Horlicks on the drinks menu which would have went well on this cold rainy morning but I craved a cold drink so I ordered a honey and Horlicks milkshake. Mia our waitress had never heard of this but ask the owner. I also ordered a chocolate croissant with nutella while my wife ordered a cappuccino cone and a butter croissant. The owner whipped up the honey and Horlicks milkshake which was one of the best I have tasted. My wife's first experience with a cappuccino cone was awesome. The service was prompt, the food was fresh and the prices were decent. Will definitely stop by again.

We had a late breakfast here on our way back to Johannesburg - could not cope with the idea of an other "petro-port breakfast" so we drove 15 minutes off the N1 to get to Koekela. Well we made the "mistake" of having some savories before trying the cake. The savories were great - bobotie pie and bobotie spring rolls were a hit as well as the vegetarian breakfast and the quiche. But the cakes were an absolute stand out - carrot cake, brownie, chocolate ganache were all absolutely fantastic - rich, full of flavor, moist... perfection. The service was very good, the music charming and the decor intriguing. Worked out at about R120 a head with tip for drinks, a starter and a cake - so not bad for great food.

If you want something different and if you want it fresh visit this non-chain-restaurant. Attentive service, great value for money and good old country atmosphere lies between the mountains. Try the salmon salad or sandwich for a burst of taste and flavor. Definitely the better choice for a lunch break between chain restaurants that mass produce. Enjoy!

Grounded Cafe is a vibrant place with a peaceful and warm feel to it. We strive to provide good food and beverages for money worth paid for. We have a trained barista who prepare all coffee related drinks and has a great passion to supply excellent coffee
Beautiful coffee stop with a lovely sandwich and brownie.. we left the Drakensberg before sunrise aiming to accomplish a visit to home affairs for passports and new IDs.. after a 2 hour visit to the home affairs coffee was calling. I googled the top 5 spots for coffee and Grounded was in those top 5. Grounded is situated in a church building opposite a private college 5 minutes away from the home affairs. Quite suburban pleasure. To wrap it up.. moresome brownies.2 coffees later and a super fresh sandwich we were ready to leave for our journey back home. To wrap it up... life is too short for bad coffee.. visit grounded for a super cup.

We didn't have much time to spend in Bloemfontein, so we asked the fabulous people at Tripadvisor for recommendations. Also, we were there over the Easter weekend, so many places were closed. Jack & Jill's came very highly recommended and we absolutely understand why. We're not fans of restaurants in malls, but the location of this little spot at the Waterfront (overlooking the water) makes you almost forget where you are. Then there's the bread. Home-made with stone-ground flour with amazing attention to detail in terms of the combination of ingredients. I had the fillet and blue cheese sandwich, which was awesome. In addition, the service is great and the ambience is comfortable. We loved it so much we knew we had to stop over for breakfast on our way out of the city the next day. Lovely place!

Food made with PLENTY of Love!
The service has gone downhill as well as the food. They used to have good tasty breakfast buffet's but now with their events, no value for money. Pity because the location is amazing and the art gallery is also a favorite.

We had breakfast here today but the restaurant is not the same as when we visited before. Cuppucino is very expensive for a very small cup and itâs not prepared correctly. Very water down with little foam on top that is not creamy at all. Food very average. Small portions. Pancakes thouhywas very good. Hope they improve because the location is very nice.

Searching for a bakery to satisfy our sweet tooth's - managed to find this spot at the square of this town. There was a variety of baked goods - cakes, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and more. The cupcakes were moist and delicious. You must try the brownie! What a chocolatey treat. The brownie weighs at least one pound. The brownie stands tall, not flat. The brownie is ladled with chocolate sauce. DELICIOUS!!!!! Definitely a treat to share and a treat you must purchase while at the bakery. Overall, very pleased with the baked goods, from custard slices, almond tart-lets, baklava's & savory quiche tarts - was heavenly.

If you are looking for a restaurant close to Clarens in the Golden Gate area, Sugar and Cinnamon is a great choice. We were treated so well by the owner and her team and had a really good meal there. Beautiful surroundings and if you have time it's also worth browsing their gift shop. Most enjoyable all round.
