Derry (/ˈdɛri/), officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndənˌdɛri/), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.

Went for lunch after hearing good reports, was very disappointed to say the least. Stood waiting at the till for 10 minutes after paying the girl on the till never gave us a number or said they would bring the food to us just ignored us, eventually I said shall we just come back in a bit and she said yes, I kept going up to check for our food my meal arrived 15mins later baked potato boiling on the outside cold on the inside, it took another 10mins before my friends meal arrived, once again I was up and down checking for it. After waiting on lunch for so long we ran out of time and felt irritated then didn't like the food so left and went to the sandwich company across the road. Bog standard food , under staffed disorganised and not a smile in sight won't be back.Hi KatThank you for your honest feedback. Iâm disappointed your experience was not to our usual high standard. Highly recommend this place! A lovely, relaxed place with a great menu. The food was delicious! The service was fantastic, so friendly! Even got a free second coffee because I was finished my meal before my boyfriend so I was waiting. Definitely recommend going here!

We had just arrived in Derry and were feeling peckish after our journey. This was the first cafe we came upon. We looked in and it was busy which is always a good sign. My husband ordered the all day fry which included orange juice, bacon, sausage egg, beans fried potatoes, potato bread, soda bread, toast tea or coffee. Freshly cooked to order and arrived looking and according to my husband tasting delicious. All for £3.95. Amazing value. Now I would have given this cafe 5 out of 5 but I have to be honest, I ordered the vegetable soup and there was no flavour to it at all which was a bit disappointing. All the other meals I saw being delivered to tables looked lovely so I probably made the wrong choice on this occasion. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. Iâm sure if iâd complained it would have been sorted but it hardly seemed worth it. I would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.

Where do I start..... I started coming here around may 2017, just after I had my baby..... & Still come here at least once a week..... The food is beautiful, whether you want a mouth watering home-made scone with lashings of fresh cream, Jam & Real butter, or a big Derry fry.... Or a healthy option (advocado & poached eggs - not for me, thank-you )..... I love coming here alone, with friends or with the kids...... Always greeted with a friendly smile & relaxed atmosphere ..... The park is a God send for the kids & parents lol..... & You can not forget the beautiful scenery of our lovely city. A must visit if you are living here, or if you are visiting...... Ps:. If you are in need of comfort food, please order the 'Ultimate Chip Buttie'..... My all-time favourite..... Gwyn's really is a little Gem in a beautiful City

New cafe serving quality food sourced locally.
Our Bogside tour guide said he purchased coffee from the Pickled Duck, so we thought a local should know the places to eat. We we wended our way back after the tour for lunch. Tasty flatbread with filling toasted, good coffee and a view of the Guildhall

We were told about this place by a friend and what a great recommendation that turned out to be. We visited for brunch and were not disappointed, the choice was superb, the dishes novel and interesting, the setting, on the side of the Loch was perfect and the service very good. Beware, my wife ordered one of their home made scones, OK it was delicious but it was also the size of a large cat, it was as light as a feather but massive - she loved it. Fantastic place, perfect setting and wonderful food

Came for breakfast on Monday for my birthday with my partner, he had visited before and loved the french toast so wanted us to go together. On ordering our breakfast the coffees arrived without asking who was having what coffee they were put down on the table we had to switch them over not particularly warm and freezing by the time the food actually arrived..25 minutes later with which the same girl made the same mistake not asking who was having what we had to switch plates...as for the breakfast bacon had a chemical taste off it, the toast sorry bread was soggy with just black charcoal lines for effect everything swimming from sauce from the beans canât understand why service was terrible and food was not good there was 7 other customers in the premises at the time one of which had a scone and 2 just had coffees!!
