Sat in the pleasant if narrow courtyard out the back under a roof & enjoyed polite service in an unrushed setting. The sandwiches showed some originality in thought & were well prepared. Excellent dining experience for those not in a hurry.Thank-you very much, we're glad you enjoyed your visit!

Quirky - yes very and quite charming although with charm comes quite cramped , dark surroundings . Coffee good but £2.50 per cup ( teacup size) . Mighty meaty breakfast £12.002 poached eggs 2 sausages Bacon Black & white pudding TomatoMushrooms ( the photograph on here was not entirely representative of what was served today ) This sounds a lot of food and a £12.00 you would think it was enormous -but not so . The bits of black and white pudding were small although obviously locally sourced and the bacon was streaky which for the price of breakfast left me somewhat annoyed . The sausage, pudding etc was tasty and not cheap ingredients but I have to say 12.00 for a breakfast is steep . Even sausage egg and bubble and squeak was nearly a £10.00 .I now understand why so many people were in there nursing one cup of coffee and reading papers for an hour and a half ! Service was ok perfectly affable but for the price of breakfast it should have been great . Nice to try but will not go back as not good value.Telegraph journalists obviously have deeper pockets than us residents !!!

Small family cafe with free on street parking and value meals
Couldn't get into our usual brekky place found this little gem on the way out of Deal. Lovely breakfast, will definitely try again after there refurbishment, only slight niggle would be a better breakfast sausage, was a bit bready lacking in meat unless I was given veggie ones by mistake. But looking forward to giving it another go. As said an out of town gem.

Delicious lunch at the Herb Garden with a friend. Food fresh, beautifully presented and full of flavour. Both of us were delighted with our dishes. The coffee was very good and I would have tried the dessert menu but needed to leave unexpectedly. I will definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending this care.

My husband and I were staying in Deal for a week, and this proved the highlight of our walk along the pier. A very friendly waitress recommended the red velvet cake and we certainly weren't disappointed. In fact we came again on our last day for a repeat performance, and this time we were treated to the added bonus of a sea bathed in sunshine. The views made us feel we were on a ship, and it was also good to be greeted by a series of well behaved dogs. We will definitely come here again next time we are in Deal!

Deliteful little friendly coffee house (I think the best in Deal) & eatery with well spaced seating & a lovely selection of savoury and sweet meals and treats. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free all catered for, albeit a limited selection, but still very nice. The best coffee in town!

If you are charging £13.00 for a hot dog with no cheese , onions or chips it had better be the best Hot dog ever.Well it wasn`t the sausage did not even fill the bun and putting some sliced gherkin on the top with mustard and ketchup is no where near enough. My wife had the open halloumi sandwich which was also underwhelming .Dear Matthew Sorry to read you were left disappointed with your meal. I can't tell from your review, or our booking system, which day/night you were in and we had nothing on our daily reports to indicate any customers were dissatisfied with these particular menu choices. Our hot dog is indeed one of our most popular items on the menu. I would always encourage customers to let us know of any issues at the time and we'd endeavour to make your experience better. Perhaps you'll give us another try in the future and we can change your mind. Best regards

From the reviews Iâd seen online I was expecting a traditional tearoom but found it to be more of a cafe. The staff were friendly and service was quick but it didnât live up to my expectations.Dear WoolGreen2 we are sorry to hear that our Pines Garden Tearoom did not live up to expectations. We are not clear whether you were in the Tearooms, outside cafe or Yurt and gardens ? We have a wide range of indoor and outdoor facilities with our garden produce home grown or made by us (Cakes and scones). We do hope you will give us a try another time.

Iâd spotted this traditional tea shop some time ago but not managed to get there during opening hours. They make a really excellent pot of tea. And, yes, it is a pot. Everyone gets a china teapot. And china cups. Very important. And the cake was very good too. So I would totally recommend it from the food point of view. But the older chap behind the counter didnât smile once during our visit (maybe his cat had died?) and the very young staff didnât seem to have a clue how to engage with their customers. If you have customers, attend to them before clearing tables. As a waitress, continuously scan the room for anyone who is trying to attract your attention. Some people will want serving more quickly than others. Some will just want to chat to their companions. Smile. Try to engage in friendly chat. Pity little Harriette wasnât there.
