With over 17 years of experience, The Mediterranean Food Company has become one of the most iconic places to visit in Christchurch. Home of the best pizza and Focaccia in Canterbury. Importers of traditional Italian delicatessen and a wide range of specia
We had a fabulous wine and food pairing experience at the Mediterranean Food Company last week. The quality of both the wines selected and the freshly prepared food was awesome. Information, including the handouts from Lindsay -The Wine Ferret, was interesting. The chef deserves great praise as his food was tasty, well-presented and certainly enhanced the whole experience.Atmosphere was convivial and the serving staff, as always, so friendly. Well done, we highly recommend Mediterranean Food Company's food, wine and enthusiastic team.

We had to meet our daughter in law from Auckland who had just landed at the Christchurch airport for lunch. We decided to go to Raewood Cafe and suss out what they had on the Menu. After seeing the plates of fish and chips passing our table we asked our waitress named Barb if the fish and chips were as good as they looked and she said they were absolutely divine, but suggested we should order two fish and chips and someone order the Bread and butter pudding then we could share the three plates between us as the size of the meals were large. We did as she suggested and wow the fish and chips were to die for and the bread and butter pud was absolutely divine so we had a beautiful lunch thanks to Barb We will definitely will go back

I was really unimpressed with Drexels. The initial impression itself was weird. There were many empty tables (80% empty) but we still had to go through this outdated ritual of waiting to be seated, and when we were, we were not asked where we would like to seat. There were many empty booths, but we were just told we were sitting in the middle of the room. The people working there all sounded like they were reading a script, unlike in most New Zealand cafes, where people seem real... there was an odd Stepford vibe, which made the place unrelaxing.Anyway, on to the food. I got a breakfast burreto which was soggy, seemed to have just been microwaved, and was saturated in a sickly red salsa... drowned in it. The hashbrown it came with was bland, and went mostly uneaten. It was a real let down on a place which prides itself on being a wonderful breakfast destination. My companion's meal was equally bland and sloppy. And this was not cheap... it was well over $50 for the two of us to have a very poor breakfast.Avoid.

We visited for breakfast and sat outside. It was delightful. I enjoyed the creamy mushrooms on toast. Best I have had anywhere in the world. A very generous serve with full-sized mushrooms, not cut in a yummy creamy sauce. The others enjoyed porridge with dates and a fruit compote. Large serves with many positive comments. The staff was attentive and friendly. Busy and very popular. Highly recommended.

I have visited this cafe twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. On both occasions, I had to read the menu several times to decipher what it actually meant. Although everything from service through to presentation and food quality cannot be faulted, I am perplexed by the tendency of many such establishments to use imaginative culinary terminology to bamboozle the customer into believing that meals as simple as bacon and eggs can be semantically up-valued. For those who do not know, a 'pom' or more accurately a 'POM' means: 'Prisoner of His/Her Majesty'. Some original settlers of NZ were sent here or to Australia as prisoners - often for petty crimes. Over subsequent generations, their descendents are now well established, even gentrified. What puzzles me is why such people feel obligated or righteous in attempting to extract top dollar for basic food items by judicious and almost ridiculous culinary semantic bs to disguise essentially basic fare? Had my meal been described on the menu as 'bacon and eggs' and priced at about 25% to 30% less than asked, I would have been well pleased, could not have objected to the price and would have no grounds to criticise...Hey there, thanks for the feedback around price and descriptions - we do feel that our menu is a little more than 'bacon & eggs' as you've referred to. All of our ingredients are high quality, locally sourced, prepared by experienced chefs.. we also try to offer more than you'd expect at breakfast.Just to address the POM that you mentioned. Little Poms is actually next door to our pub, Pomeroys (which is often referred to as Pom's). Pomeroy is our families last name and as our cafe is the smaller, day offering we chose to call it Little Poms.Hope that that clears it up for you!

Hello Sunday is a delightful cafe set in one of Sydenhams oldest two buildings. It has been lovingly restored by owners Jonathan Spark, Yasmeen Clark and Chris Penny. Drawing from its previous incarnations as an old Post Office then Sunday School to the o
Thanks so much to Chris and his team. This was by far the best brunch weâve had in years. We enjoyed the beef cheek hash (the kimchi side was the best kimchi Iâve ever eaten). The Shakshuka was delicious - star of the dish was the preserved lemon sauce. The coffee was amazing. I indulged in the mimosa cocktail - totally awesome. Would consider moving to Christchurch to become a regular here !Dear Missbossyboots,Wiw thank you so much for the acknowledgment and praise, (love your TripAdvisor name).Ive shared your review with the staff and they were very happy. That shakshuka sure is something else.

We were staying in Christchurch Central and walked the streets looking for an appealing breakfast place. Nothing really stood out. Pulled out the phone and looked at TripAdvisor reviews. Unknown Chapter stood out as highly rated. Bit of a trek again but so glad we found it. One look at the crowd in the window said it all. On a cold winter weekend it was warm, staff welcoming, service fast as, food options, presentation, taste and value were excellent. Coffee was superb, so we had a second. Will be seeking this place out for sure on future travels to Christchurch.
