Returned to Le Madeleine twice on my most recent visit on business to Bethesda. Had a three salad plate for dinner one night and enjoyed it, but then I'm a salad kind of gal. I like the décor and the freshness of the food. It's pretty obvious people think of this more as a breakfast / lunch place but if you don't lean toward very heavy evening meals, this is a great option. I don't feel it's very expensive for what you get.Another evening, after experiencing a crab shack complete with all the salty, messy, cracking, digging business for not-very-much-food (not my kind of place but I get it for those who love the adventure), we stopped here for a dessert pastry, which in my case was a filled croissant. Or maybe 2 filled croissants, if I'm being totally honest (seriously I got about 3 ounces of crab out of two of those poor critters before giving up). Also picked up a bag of 3 Linzer cookies to bring back as my travel gift to my family who was left behind and they pronounced them among the very best cookies they have ever eaten.

We ordered delivery from Lilit. Although it was pleasing to know that they offer a delivery service and also many gluten free options, the food that arrived was not well-done. I've been eating gluten-free for many years since I was a young child and feel that things have come a long way with regards to gluten-free eating. I was not pleased with the pizza and lasagna that we ordered from here, however. The pizza crust tasted rather soggy and was not crisp at all. The lasagna seemed to have fallen apart and did not maintain its form, so we just got a mess of noodles, sauce, and meat. Other reviewers have highly rated this restaurant, so maybe this was a singular experience, or it could be that their gluten-free foods aren't quite up to par just yet. Either way, tread carefully.

My husband and I had breakfast here this morning. We tried the almond French toast. Devine! And the chicken biscuit with âhot honey.â So good. We would highly recommend the honey cinnamon latte as well!! So delicious! Many locals chatting and enjoying coffee and breakfast together. Free parking in the back. Very nice place. Would love to return to try the breakfast sandwiches and lunch or dinner.
