Things to do in Chepstow
Chepstow's best kept secret, The Palmer Cafe is a not-for-profit charity located in the heart of historic Chepstow town centre. It is open to the public from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Saturday. Staffed mostly by a small team of volunteers specialising in supe
Thought I would try the Palmer Centre cafe on my lunch break to help a local business out but sadly was treated disgustingly by the volunteer. Note on the door says âgo to the kitchen to be servedâ, which I did, but after waiting around 8 minutes I gently tapped on the door and this is how the conversation went:Me: Excuse me but can I order something please?Old woman: (no reply, just a very evil look), she huffed, picked up her order pad and stared at me again (no,hello, how can I help, what would you like to order, in fact not one word was spoken).Me: Can I have an earl gray please?Old woman: What? Whatâs that?Me: Itâs a tea.Old woman: (no response, just tutted).Me: If you donât sell them Iâll have a normal tea instead.Old woman: (just stared at me as if I were an alien).Me: Tell you what, just forget it (and walked out).I know this Centre is run by volunteers but there is no excuse to be so rude. The basics of any customer service should be ,hello, what would you like, goodbyeâ. Itâs not hard and the way the old woman was with me was totally unacceptable. I will never return and suggest if this establishment canât provide any form of customer service, to not bother opening at all. If I could give it no stars I would as that is what it deserves!
Quiet cafe set in centre of chepstow sit down and take away Available
Small but perfectly formed cafe with great Ice cream and decent coffee, just behind Barclays in Chepstow High Street.

With breathtaking views overlooking our Chepstow lake, the View Café Bar serves an extensive range of hot & cold meals as well as a wide selection of beers, wines and soft drinks from the licensed bar. We also have two very posh coffee machines that make
Very lovely clean and modern place to eat and or drink, whether your partaking in the activities or not at the site. Very reasonable.

Well what rude obnoxious staff! I specifically asked if the Rose was dry which the manager informed me it was! Well £10 later sweet not dry rose I asked if she could change it, I never even tasted it as it smelt sweet, I was told I would have to buy another 2glasses if I wanted different wine! Poor Chepstow!!

We all love toast and celebrate it in all its golden glory! The nostalgic, homely and comforting smell. Raise a glass together to love, friendship & health
Called in today with a colleague, had not been before (last time i was here it was in about 1978 - it was one of the few places that a teenager could get served as I recall). Anyhow, its now a lovley little community type cafe. The two ladies who served us were charming (big change from 1978!). My tea came in a REAL Teapot, accompanied by a nice traditional tea cup, how many places (apart from the Ritz) can you say that about. What a wonderful little place, I will be back.

I will admit I only went in for coffee & a cake following a day out in Chepstow on the train. Its Ok but I must be out on cinque with the everyone else because I don't understand where all the 5 out of 5 scores come from.It is a small part of the station building on Chepstow station. It was clean & the lady serving was polite & helpful. The coffee was ok, but I have had better. I had the only type of cake that was available which was a homemade flapjack, which fell apart when I picked it up & made it very difficult to eat.I go out a lot & write lots of reviews & I write them as I see it. On the strength of 1 visit would I call again, no, but I accept I am in the minority & everyone else seems to love it.Hi Diddy,Thank you for your review,May i start by saying our homemade flapjack is a sell out, Its not your rock hard stuff you by in supermarkets that you can hardly get your teeth in to.All our customers love it so we will continue to make it the way we do.., We also are not a coffee shop ,We are a traditional cafe serving home cooked meals, Allday breakfast, 99.9% of our customers love it , Sorry you were slightly disappointed ,but sometimes we cant always please everyone.
