Reviews on Cafe food in Cardiff, United Kingdom. The Welsh capital may have begun its life as a Roman fort, but it's since become a bustling city. Where the fort once stood, Cardiff Castle has held court since the 11th century. It remains a central presence in the city, now full of lively art and music venues, hip boutiques, fun bars and modern hotels. Even with so many new and exciting things to see, the National History Museum is still the most visited attraction in Wales. Don't be the only visitor who plays hooky!

Set well out of the city, but near fashionable Wellfield Road so free parking is easy. We visited, without reservations at lunchtime. This is âin your faceâ vegan eating, nothing animal based would dare slip through the door. I was worried that my leather shoes might be banned. But the welcome was warm and friendly. The furniture is sheekly shabby and the decor fits the eco-warrior vibe. (I was shocked that the pages in the menu lived in poly pockets.)If we had been in a hurry the service might easily have felt slow, but we werenât so that was fine. The starters of Patatas Bravas were generous, but for me a little bland. My main course salad was filling and tasty. And my friendâs âBreakfastâ, which came recommended by the staff, was a highlight.Pudding was a bit disappointing, firstly they had no nut free options and then my chocolate and hazelnut dessert was too large and too dense.A word about my KâPow drink, it was vividly green and surprisingly tasty for something with so much goodness. I would have no hesitation in eating there again. This was a good experience.

I and my wife went here twice on our recent trip to Cardiff. Very central and a great delicatessen. The upstairs cafe has an interesting and well-priced menu. The German theme is evident, which I like as we visit Germany quite a bit. Great sandwiches, sausage specials and soup, and good coffee. Fantastic for lunch, but it does seem it can get very busy !!

Pleased that we managed to get a table without waiting, but this is the first time this has happened here. Surprised that it wasn't full on a Friday lunchtime, but it made our lunch even more special.Excellent food with a range of cheese, cold meat and bread all washed down with an excellent house red.If you are looking for something different for your lunch, Wally's is the place for you.

We serve simple home-cooked food including our famous all-day breakfast. We have great coffee and some lovely home-made goodies to go with it including our Welsh cakes which are the stuff of legends.
What makes this cafe wonderful are the staff, best customer service ever and I eat here very often. Food cooked feshley to order. The menu offers a good choice for everybody. Well done staff your the reason I always want to come back.If someone said to me âlady, would you like the role of Geoff in âByker Grove... the musicalâ or to receive awesome reviews like thisâ? Iâd definitely choose the reviews, youâve made us very happy!! And letâs be fair Geoff was an absolute legend and youâd probably get to meet Ant and Dec at the opening night of Broadway!!

First time at this lovely little restaurant on Whitchurch Road. It was recommended to us & Iâm very glad we tried it. 2 courses for £16.95 - very good value. We had crab arancini to start (superb) followed by one pork loin roast & one fresh seared tuna. The portions were so generous we werenât able to try the desserts! My husband is Sicilian & is never completely happy when eating out but he was full of praise & keen to return to try the evening menu. Do try.

We popped in the shop after stumbling across this little gem and returned the next morning for breakfast. Beautiful food and fantastic service. We shared the continental breakfast with cured meats and a croissant and the Welsh rarebit with a very generously sized latte and tea. It was all delicious and we would highly recommend. The shop is well worth a visit and is a must see for any cheese or kitchen lovers!Hi 612PaulAThanks for stumbling across us and glad that you decided to give us a try.Glad you enjoyed your continental breakfast and service. Thanks for the great review and hope to see you again.ThanksAlastair

Slightly mad that an old-fashioned greasy spoon is number one for Cardiff, but we did enjoy our breakfasts here. The owner was very sweet, checking we were happy with everything we ordered and saying goodbye when we left. Also nice to see regular customers being greeted by name, another indication of how friendly this place is.
