Quick, good, and tasty. All words I would use when I stop and get my lunch or dinner to take home. Love the salads the most.
Ruby's is a brand new restaurant opening in Bowie! We went this week after reviewing the menu and deciding we needed to try everything! The menu is traditional Southern fare and it will leave your mouth watering upon just perusing it. We started with the braised short ribs and fried shrimp. Both portions were generous and I couldn't finish mine, which meant more joy for my mouth the following day. The ribs were so flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. The fried shrimp also seasoned well and lightly breaded. The sides were scrumptious. Homemade mac and cheese - yes please. Yummy and gooey. My FAVORITE was the sauteed apples. I want to try all the sides but I think I will always order the sauteed apples... they were tart and sweet at the same time. Tender but not mushy. Perfectly done. Their cornbread is also amazing and beautifully complimented with their apple butter. Others tried the green beans, mashed potatoes (so creamy), and greens. Everyone was super pleased. The one slightly lackluster item was the fried okra. Everything else was just so flavorful that the fried okra felt bland in comparison. it can be remedied with a dipping sauce like ranch or hot sauce. As the restaurant is having their soft opening now, the desserts weren't yet available, but if they're as delicious as our meal was last night, I'm excited to welcome Ruby's to the Bowie community! Also of note, Ruby's serves breakfast ALL DAY.

the small fast food options were good, the cold drink options were good as well and the Chi Latte I had while there for a meeting was great. It was a good spot for a short meeting, seating was comfy and the place was clean. I will visit again, even though I don't drink coffee.
We initially discovered this great little boutique ice cream shop while looking for a place to stop on a limo tour 13th birthday party. Located in historic Bowie, the shop is one part antique store, one part sandwich shop, and one part ice cream parlor. The owner, a very pleasant woman, works behind the counter and scoops up handmade ice cream that is the equal to anything you can find in the more famous downtown shops. There are also tarts, brownies and cookies; all delicious. You can also enjoy craft sodas such as the black cherry cream soda I had today. If hungry for more significant fare, they also serve grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs etc. All the girls in the party enjoyed their ice cream as they wandered about the antique shop looking at the wide selection of articles therein. There's also a living room style sitting area with comfortable couches as well as more traditional cafe-style tables to sit at. If anywhere near historic Bowie, I highly recommend stopping by the shop.
