We are café restaurant that serves breakfasts and bean to cup Lavazza coffee in the mornings and pizza, burgers, wraps, pittas, paninis and homemade 100% vegan and gluten free Falafel. We do takeaways and delivery service.
We had an amazing day in Cheddar and just wanted to have tea before we head home. .. and there we found this gem. As it was late and time was not enough we ordered chips and tea. The chef gave us some falafel to try. Oh my goodness, they were the best Falafel we ever ate. They are absolutely Falafel you can't get anywhere else. They are crispy and the taste is full of flavour complete in harmony. We had a nice chat with the friendly chef and learned that they do cater for Vegans as well. We know now that we have found our cafe in Cheddar.

We are an environmentally conscious, "garden takeaway" serving Roman style artisan pizza, exceptional coffee, delicious ice cream and other locally sourced food and drink. Stop by for a freshly prepared baguette and a cream tea or just a coffee and a chat
We specifically planned to stop at Rockface after hiking Cheddar's Gorge today (Tuesday). It was open as we walked by to begin our walk, and someone else referenced it being open as they passed earlier. We got back, ready to check it out, only to see that it had closed. The attached picture was taken at 3:22pm, showing openings hours of 10 - 4 yet also confirming the place was closed. As we stood outside, around 6 people seemed also surprised and disappointed to see it was closed, seemingly having planned to return there, too. Having mulled it over, I feel that any business that is so unreliable as to show itself as closed during its opening hours can only be awarded 1 star as it shows contempt for people who planned their day around visiting. So sorry that we were closed when you visited. As with any small family run business there are often conflicting priorities to manage. The decision on that day was to close early. There was no malice or contempt implied.

Hi. Thanks for the lovely tasty meal. My son enjoyed it so much that he was eating it with two spoons to get it in as quickly as possible. A family favourite cafe.

Eat here after soft play today for the first time . The omelette i had was exceptional and so light. Service could have been quicker and children meals would be a welcome due to the new soft play. Despite that the food was really good quality and very friendly will def go again Hi Diane.Thank you so much for your kind review. its greatly appreciated that you took the time to come on our trip advisor page. You will be pleased to know that we will be releasing a children's menu very soon so keep posted for that! :)hopefully seen you again soonThanks again

Fantastic breakfast as ever. First time I had taken my wife here (my daughter gave it away that we'd been before as she went straight for the toy she'd last played with). We arrived just after 1100 hours, which is when breakfast stops. However both the ladies in the cafe were lovely and managed to rustle up 2 lovely fresh breakfasts which we all enjoyed. Can't thank them enough, love coming here. It's a hidden gem away from it all, a must for those wanting a change of scenery - and what a beautiful location it is. Already looking forward to coming back ladies...

Cute cafe style front leading to further seating at the rear into a conservatory, open kitchen and beautiful garden with seating and a pond. Home cooked food, sandwiches, paninis, ploughmans, locally sourced cheese used, great children's menu, home cooked
service accompanies unremarkable food, although the ploughmanâs platter was a step above other dishes. If you have no time constraints and only need to keep the hangries at bay, it will suffice but donât expect more. Perhaps they were suffering from end of season fatigue.

Fantastic home cooked food, made with great local produce â Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea & cake!
We went for their breakfast but were disappointed that the full breakfasts were not being available and never quite understood why as only a couple of others there apart from ourselves. Ended up with bacon rolls, but very good

Edelweiss is a popular and long established family run cafe serving breakfasts, home-cooked meals, light bites, teas and real barista made coffees. The menu consists of fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce and is all homemade. It is open seven days
Visited around 1pm for cream tea and cake. It was busy and we got a table quick by pure chance. The food itself was nice enough, a nice cream tea and no complaints but the place does not help itself in the way it deals with its table service. While there we saw 3 tables reserved but they must have turned around ten people away. When one asked when a table would be available they said they were not sure and did not give any further information. A poor way to run the business and it must lose money daily if its run like this. Stop reserving tables, its not a high end restaurant. Young staff trying to do a decent job but not helped by those above making the decisions. And there are plenty other cafes in the village who will gain from Edelweiss turning people away.Hello there,I'm sorry, I don't think I really understand your review. Your personal experience was good by the sounds of things, because as you say, ''It was busy and we got a table quick by pure chance... a nice cream tea... no complaints...'' - But you give two stars and and title beginning with ''Let down..'' - when you were not let down in any way? Your rather overbearing spouting about a business choosing to take table reservations and so therefore in your opinion it has ''a strange style of service'' is the only strange thing here.Having run Edelweiss for 17 years, working an average of 70 hours per week, I think we are the only ones who really have the information to decide whether we are losing money from reserving tables. Not, with all due respect, by someone who arrives at his decision whilst eating a Cream Tea, during a singular 20 minute or so snippet of Edelweiss life. It is true that when you only have 50 seats, reserving tables does lose some customers, but more to the point, we don't allow all of our tables to be reserved and only allot a certain amount of tables that customers can book. We do this to keep a large regular customer base who would not otherwise gamble the certainty of a table after travelling. We look after our customers well, and for our particular business, we know we would lose a big proportion of our customers who keep our numbers strong when the tourists stop flocking to Cheddar in such numbers during the quieter season. You, in fact, were able to get a table BECAUSE we don't allow all the tables to be reserved.Regarding a prospective customer asking one of our young staff members when a table would be available, if she didn't ask a superior team member it is very likely that we were too busy to give more information, being that it was the peak time of 1 o'clock in the summer holidays. It's quite difficult to take time with prospective customers wanting a table when you're full, as too can judging how long customers are going to be and whether they might go on to have desserts, coffee or chat for a while after finishing etc.Thank you however for your positive comment about our young staff doing a decent job. Our happy team both young and older do do a very decent job yes, but on the contrary to your judgement, they are very much supported by us.There are plenty of other eateries in the village, yes, and just as we turn people away when we are too busy, they do too; it's life in catering and we Cheddar businesses know how it rolls. There's little to be gained by jumping to conclusions or basing opinions on little or no information, and it would've been nice if you could have reviewed us regarding your own good personal experience, rather than down-rating us for a non existent issue that didn't affect you.

My girlfriend and I visited here for lunch today. I had a Nutella got chocolate which was amazing and my girlfriend had a toffee apple hot chocolate. This was lovely too.I opted for a ploughmanâs with ham and my girlfriend chose chilli with chips and cheese. Wow what flavoursome meals we got. My ploughmanâs had a blue cheese, cave aged and smoked cheddars with hot bread roll, salad, pickles and coleslaw. See the photos for yourself! Very highly recommended.
