Reviews on Cafe food in Areopoli, Peloponnese, Greece. Areopoli (Greek: Αρεόπολη, before 1912 also: Τσίμοβα - Tsimova), known as "Χειμαύα" (from Greek "Χειμαδιών") in the regional Maniot tongue, is a town on the Mani Peninsula, Laconia, Greece. The word Areopoli means "city of Ares", the ancient Greek god of war. It was the seat of Oitylo municipality. Areopoli was called Tsimova by the invading Slavs during the 7th century AD. The Greek War of Independence was started at Areopoli on March 17, 1821 by Petros Pierrakos, also known as Petros Mavromichalis, the last bey of Mani. Now Areopoli has grown into a flourishing town. Its tower houses, constructed with field stones, are distinct from the traditional blue and white buildings that characterize many Greek villages.

Awesome cocktail bar situated in the old town of Areopoli, nice warm atmosphere with music modern and nice selection of the oldies. Costas is very good at what he does, he answered all our questions and even offered alternative info on things to do to get the most from our trip to this historical area. The bar is housed in a stone built establishment from 1860. A lovely contrast of old and new. Worth the visit, definitely coming back again...

Very nice place in Oitylo. Great choice of local products served with a twist ! Small plates - great choice for late snack/lunch. We loved potatoes and pasta with egg ! Owner is lovely and we felt well took care of !

Very nice Cafe bar with great views to the deep blue sea. Seems like flying above the sea. Its very romantic place, not very convenient going with kids. Around 15 minutes on foot from areopoli center.Î£Î±Ï ÎµÏ ÏαÏιÏÏÏ ÏÎ¿Î»Ï !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vasiliki is a traditional greek tavern with mediterranean cuisine. Organic olive oil is used and local meat and vegetables grown in organic gardens. Feel free to taste our delicacies!
