They took a booking for a dinner party for 10 and did not disclose that they were only offering a lunch menu. When asked why we were not told at the time we booked, the manageress lied to say that they did not know at the time the booking was taken. Even if true, which it transpired it wasnât, they could have the decency to ring us to tell us in advance. Below is part of my exchange with the owner, who in my opinion has not offered a satisfactory explanation or apology. Bottom line is I think they are running a hotel with a restaurant so perhaps us foodies arenât that important. This was my email to the restaurant:A highly disappointing experience yesterday evening for what was intended to be a special occasion, my son's leaving party. Party of 10 booked two days earlier for dinner. Had heard good things about the food, and several in our group are regulars, but a first for me. We were handed the lunch menu and on querying, just told flatly (no apology offered) that this was the only menu on offer that evening, due to some vague explanation about kitchen staff. When we asked why we were not told, the manageress said "when did you book? Well we did not know we had the staffing problem then. and normally for parties of 10 we would ask you to pre-order!" (At this point, you were wafer thin close to me spoiling the evening for everyone.) Fact is you could have telephoned us to give us a choice, you could have said sorry, and you never asked us to pre-order. Rude no, but arrogant yes. Food itself was fairly decent although the "rare" steaks were medium instead, but no one came into the (lovely) room to check on us although the restaurant was not busy. We had to out to ask for some ice, and then some extra crackers. We spent about £500 and all of us are from the next village, Stoke Sub Hamdon; perhaps you don't care as you have your captive passing hotel clientele. 2 out of 10, and ver disappointed and actually angry.I received a less than sincere apology from the owner for my my âdisappointmentâ due to the âmistakeâ. The failure to inform at the time of the reservation or to notify us before the evening might be explained as a âmistakeâ, but claiming that they did not know at the time of the reservation was plainly a lie. Please stop calling me and my staff liars, I apologised many times for what was our mistake, the only reason I am Dignifying this with a response is to stop all of your bullying and threatening emails, I do not know what you are hoping to gain by this, I have apologised on behaf of my staff and the Kings Arms so leave it and go and enjoy the sunshine.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at this pub, with restaurant and accommodation. The owners Mark and Isabell's husband (didn't get his name) were so accommodating in every way. Our room looked over the garden and everything you would expect was there and comfortable. The food was a real treat with a lunch and two dinners. The drinks were reasonably priced and there was a good choice of beers and four ciders. The wine list was extensive but we found the house range good value at £17.95. The bar was frequented by friendly locals who we chatted with. A special treat was greeting Monty, a friendly customer's dachshund and not forgetting the four pigs corralled at the back of the garden. We enjoyed a walk around the village and talking to friendly locals. We would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment and I am sure we will be back again.

The best cafe in Yeovil. Food is out of this world, plenty of homemade goodies (the cakes are amazing) really fresh and the best cafe coffee I've found. Huge choice of menu. The staff are really friendly, very efficient - nothing is too much trouble. You may need to book a table at lunchtime as it really is very popular.

Visited yesterday as hadnât tried this place for lunch and seen the good reviews. There was butter on every table which was warm so I was expecting some bread. Nope just warm butter. Portions are tiny for big prices. A ramekin dish of chips totalled about 6 chips (who does that!) and a really dry burger we had to send back. Didnât bother ordering another. Wonât be back.

Fantastic food, superb service & such friendly staff. Was reading other reviews & amazed at a couple of recent bad ones. They certainly didn't dine where we did. Excellent meal for us all & a lovely place to eat & enjoy great views. The Chef /Owner was charming which was an added bonus.Thank you for such a great time & will be returning shortly.
