The Codrington Arms is a beautifully presented, cosy country pub with an outstanding restaurant. The pub is also a great venue for wedding receptions and parties. Popular with families, the large beer garden with play area is a must see, as is the largest
We had a lovely meal at the codrington arms. Waiting staff very attentive especially Ellie. Thankyou.

I would like to thank all the staff, in this great pub, for making our 50th wedding anniversary, last week, such a memorable one. We had our wedding reception at the pub and it was so lovely to be back there again. The pub has changed, as one would expect, in 50 years and is very attractively decorated. The lovely staff were so helpful and friendly. The service was excellent and the food beautifully cooked and presented. We only wish we lived nearer! We had a very happy time and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you so much.

Since reopening the pub in March 2009 we've tried to impress people coming back with a wide selection of real ales and a stunning menu & specials board selection from our chefs. Visit our website to have a look at our restaurant menu, our drinks offering
Stopped in here for a light lunch. This is clearly a very popular pub. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming and cleared a table for us after taking our order. We only had sandwiches but they were very good. the bread was fresh and the sandwiches came with cole slaw and salad. The only reason I have rated this a 3 star is that I think the cold drink that I had may have been past its use by date. The drink was a funny colour which I was assured was normal colour and it tasted OKish but there was a lot of sludge at the bottom of my glass. It may be that it hadn't been shaken up enough before serving.

Pub with a restaurant.
Went to Sodbury Steak House to celebrate my wife's birthday. Nine of us dined. All meals came out at the same time service was brilliant staff are super friendly and the food was excellent. The steaks were cooked to perfection as were the burgers and ribs. It was a lovely night we were well looked after. We will be back. Thanks!

Had steak and scampi and my wife had fish and chips her chips were hot the fish was over cooked and dry, and my steak asked for medium it was over cooked and the rest of the meal was mediocre and warm not the standard we have enjoyed before we spoke to one of the servers about this and the response was the chef is leaving and we are getting a lot of complaintsHi Gordon, thank you for taking the time to post a review for us, we appreciate all feedback. Iâmsorry your last experience was not enjoyable, if you would like to discuss this more please give me a call or drop me an email. Our kitchen team comprises of a team of around 12, usually with around 4/5 chefs working in any one day. Iâm not sure the relevance if a chef is leaving, as different meals get cooked by different chefs on separate sections, so not just one chef, just to reassure you. Many thanks again for the feedback. Regards, Deborah Jarvis (Manager)

Have used here before (for afternoon tea) and was most impressed. Sadly a family birthday evening meal here was very disappointing. Was fully aware that this was a restaurant that was top-notch in price for its âbottled onlyâ available drinks and its meals, however I wished for a top- notch occasion to be enjoyed by my family and invited guests. The number of guests arriving and all our chosen meals were given days in advance. On arrival it was immediately noticed that 4 in number two-seater tables had been coupled together with then 2 more seats added onto each end. I am going to refrain from showing the photo taken. I expressed my concerns that this was not at all suitable for a party of 12 to be attempting to drink and dine at tables meant adequately for 8 persons only. As my party had all arrived on time they sadly had to stand around whilst staff made up the tables to the arrangement that they should have been prior to our arrival. I hadnât just turned up and asked could you possibly âsqueezeâ in 12 of us !!All the meals presented were thoroughly enjoyable apart from one. Sadly one of the pre-ordered steak meals was incorrectly cooked and unfortunately by the time his meal was correctly delivered the rest of us has finished our food and he was greatly embarrassed to be eating entirely on his own. When I went to bar to ask for the entire bill Karen asked me how did I wish to pay for the â8% gratuity. charge. I politely replied âexcuse meâ ? She then showed me what was printed at the bottom of the till invoice/bill = For parties of ten or more guests an optional service charge of 8% is included. All tips, gratuities and service changes are passed onto our staff.I politely replied that I would not be paying this charge. You may ask WHY ?Well the web-site does not state this anywhere and also in the four weeks prior to this booking being made was it mentioned verbally. If it had then âThe Stablesâ would not have even been considered for our family celebration. When it came to leave the restaurant Karen was at the door, was there going to be a thank you for £700 of custom from my party of guests ? No it wasnât at all. She said she wanted us to leave altogether and not in dribs and drabs so as not to make it too draughty for her customers sat near the door. Well excuse me, my guests and I will leave if and when they feel the time is suitable to do so, not when ordered. Not reasonable to make a 90 year old lady wait for her taxi in the cold outside. Perhaps erecting an outer entry door might assist in eliminating this concern !!I realise that this review may differ totally from other guests experiences but I am afraid that this was one party of guests that will most certainly not be returning. I am disappointed to hear this. We do try and make everyone's experience the best we can.To answer your concerns; we do put tables together for our larger parties and all of our tables and chairs are individual so don't fit together in a uniform manner. We increased the table size immediately when we realised that you wanted more space but the table was all laid up initially ready for your arrival.I am Karen and I gave you the £400 bill crossing out the gratuity section you have mentioned, and saying that we were happy to leave the gratuity to your discretion on which you said that you would sort this out in cash at the table. It does also state that this service charge for large parties is optional. We asked throughout your meal to see if everything was satisfactory and no one said anything to the contrary. We regret the mistake with the steak and gave a complimentary glass of wine to the gentleman to apologise.I did wait by the door to make sure there was minimum disruption to our remaining guests as the door was frequently left open during your visit which caused other diners to get cold. No one was forced to leave and would have been welcome to stay in the warm until taxis had arrived. We learn from constructive criticism but will defend the restaurant and its staff when itâs not justified and untruths are told.

We had the most delicious meal today - mushroom burger with a variety of really interesting salads all in different and super-tasty dressings. Everything here is home made with high quality ingredients. Also, a very full plate and a at very reasonable price. Great coffee too. Highly recommended. Friendly service.

Possibly due to the reviews we were expecting something really exceptional and sadly it wasnât.The menu had lots of choice. The premises were exactly as expected. The disappointing thing about here was the service. It seemed to be a huge effort for the lady behind the till to serve us. She was impatient as we tried to decide what we wanted and came across as quite rude. Iâm sure it must be annoying to have paying customers, who have never been before, and have seen such great reviews (and one verbal recommendation) need to take a bit of time to assess the menu but if you are the âwelcomeâ face of a business you need to hide your annoyance better.Iâm very sorry that we inconvenienced you!!I am very sorry to hear that you were not happy with the service you were given. We strive to make everyone feel welcome and to always offer a friendly and polite service, even when faced with the most challenging customers. It appears we failed on this occasion for which I apologise and I will remind everyone to try harder, no matter what the circumstances are. Thank you for your feedback.
